Chapter 1

September 13, 1985, the dark aura known as bad-luck looms over a small town in Oregon called "unknown", unknown is correct, because the city is so small that it is one of the lesser known cities in all the state, however that does not mean nothing happens, as a matter of fact, a lot happens, those who live there are aware of the super natural occurrences that tend to happen, an alarm is heard going off, the skies turn red and thunder roars, people run away, children scream, the alarm gets more intense, turned out to be a dream, the alarm was the sound of a young boy's alarm clock, the dream was his, he turned off the alarm, and got out of bed, this boy's name was Hugo, it just so happens today is his birthday, September 13th, he rubs his eyes and goes downstairs to his mother, "good morning birthday boy" she tells him, to which Hugo replies, "ah, thank you" he goes to the restroom to wash up and get ready for school, instead of opening the door he phases through it because of his abilities, he brushes his teeth, washes his face and phases back out, his mother walks by and reminds him "Hugo! You know the rule, no using your powers in the house!" he apologizes and sits down at the kitchen table and stuffs his face with a piece of toast, he looks towards the living room TV, showing a commercial for this new video game called Super Mario Brothers, "wow, i wish i had video games" said Hugo, however that gave him an idea, considering its his birthday, maybe he could ask for a Nintendo Entertainment system, as well as the new game, his mother calls his name "Hugo! get ready for school i am gonna go drop you off in ten minutes, he slightly gasped, and phased up to his room, the reason hes able to phase through doors and walls is because he was born with that ability, his family calls it "his ghost powers" because not only can he phase through solid objects, he can also turn himself invisible, he is not allowed to use them though, due to what might happen if other people found out, he is not the only one though, his group of friends have abilities too, they are the only ones, kids at school call them freaks, because they are the nerdy bunch and they tend to hang out with each other exclusively, Hugo goes to oakwood middleschool, he gets dressed, he wears a black sweater hoodie, and a grey shirt, black jeans and red shoes, its 7:30, he goes downstairs, "ready?" his mom asked, to which he responds, "yes i am" he grabs his Sony Walkman, presses play, puts on his headphones and listens to "The ghost in you" by the Psychedelic furs.
