He no longer had a purpose. With the final galactic war over, and with this new era of peace, no one needed a war engineer any longer. No one needed Kakin, not any longer, and he knew it. In fact, now he was dead broke. Without the funds he usually got from the now non existent military, he could not afford his old two story house. "This blows" he muttered, wandering the streets of the emerald city. Kicking an empty MRE can, he slunk his way into what he now called home. An old abandoned metal factory from before all the wars. It was crumbling, decaying metal everywhere. But, it was still livable, so Kikan had made it his home. "I'm back everyone!" Kikan shouted, and set down two bowls of cat food.
Tim and Jim, two calico cats that though he considered his, were truly strays. They ran up and began to devour their new feast, kikan whispering "Heh. Eat up guys." and sat next to his standard issue sleeping bag. Pulling out his last MRE, he slowly looked around the old factory. "You know," he said to himself through a mouthful of chicken. "I could use some of these materials. But for what?" He wondered and thought as he ate his food, thinking of several military applications but nothing that would be sanctioned by the new council.
"Oh I know" he thought out loud as he set the now empty MRE bag in a barrel. "I'll make an AI. Or try, anyway. I've always wanted to do that, ever since I was a kid." Kikan entertained the idea for a while, and smiled. "With all these raw materials I'm sure I could do it. And nowadays I pretty much have all the time in the world." He entertained the idea more and more until he had the idea set in stone in his mind. "Yup. That's exactly what I'm going to to. Look out world. The first AI is coming right at you!"
With that, Kakin began to get to work. With no time to lose (literally) he picked out the least rusted peices of metal he could find. "Now...where the hell am I gonna shape this..." he muttered to tim as he tapped his chin.
"Maybe some of these watercutters are still operable?" He said to no one in particular as he flipped the on switch to all of them.
Out of all 34 of the watercutters he turned on, only three were still functioning, and only one was functioning at a reasonably high accuracy rate. "Well, here goes nothing." Kikan muttered as he began to shape the metal, cutting flakes off at first. Slowly, very slowly, the shape of a human head came out if the lump of metal. A woman's head, from the cheekbones. "Ah...shit." Kikan cursed, he wanted an intimidating gaint. But, as he cursed, he thought maybe this could work. With the new council a freindly face would be better...and so, with that thought in mind, kikan scraped together more metal.
