A/n Yayyyyy an update
The roar of an engine is all that is heard, the deep sounds rumbling through my ears. As I slowly gain consciousness I see millions of star scattered across the night sky. I sit up wondering where my whiskey-eyed angel is. The crinkling of paper is felt under my hand. I lift my hand up to see a folded paper that has 'read me' written upon it. Inside the note reads 'these are the keys to your life you can go anywhere you want, as long as you care for the car it will care for you.' I quickly turn to my left and see a beautiful, navy blue '67 Ford Mustang sitting fat tired in the grass. Another note sat upon the drivers seat 'one step closer to the rest of your life.' Directions were printed onto the paper. I started the car, feeling the best come to life.
As I followed the directions they led me to a familiar place, the small town were I grew up. This town has been my home for almost my entire life, it holds so many memories good, bad, happy, and sad. I pulled into the gravel road that led to my house. 'Please be here baby, I thought. My house was isolated, had its own lake, and a ton of land. As I pulled into the garage I see a note taped to the door. 'I'm not here now, but this is our home, we can spend the rest of our lives here. Go inside get some sleep, shower, and eat. We'll see each other soon.'
I turn over and inhale the musky smell of my whiskey-eyed angel. Breathing in his intoxicating smell, missing him more and more. I sit up and swing my feet so they touch the cold floor. Standing up I stretch and walk towards the bathroom. I look in the mirror to deal with my bed head. Deciding a brush won't fix it I slip my clothes off and get into the shower. The smell of coffee and pancakes fill the house. Curious I walk down the stairs and into the kitchen. As I turn the corner I see a note sitting next to a plate with blueberry pancakes and a cup of coffee. I sip the coffee as I open the note 'I know how much you love it when I cook. P.S there's more coffee. ( Lorelei Gilmore)' I remember when I had started watching Gilmore Girls, he said it was some chick show and he would never watch it. By the time the first season ended he turned to me and demanded we immediately finish the show. I laughed a the funny memory, finishing the pancakes and coffee. I walked around the house looking for another note to tell me if I was closer to seeing my angel, noticing a note on the couch I pick it up and open it. 'You can see me today if you can desirer the last clue, it's hidden from the world our heaven, the place you told me that you wanted to get married. In this place you will find the key to the rest of your life.'
I started my car wanting to see him as soon as possible, wanting to hold him in my arms. Every fiber of my being begging for his touch, wanting to feel our fingers intertwine, wanting to run to him and jump into his arms, never wanting to leave. Finally I get to the last place, my meadow the place I would escape to anytime my parents fought or I got to stressed out. I would come here and sit by the lake listening to the waterfall or just laying in the grass staring at the sky trying to my things with the clouds sometimes bringing my sister so she would have to know why they were yelling, and telling her it wasn't her fault. When the accident happened I stopped going, it hurt too much to think about what this place was. When I met him as a freshman in high school I was distant at first so I wouldn't get hurt again, but as we started to talk and hang out more I slowly opened up about what happened on that beautiful day in July. As I told him the story I started to cry and with every word and the thought of what happened the more it hurt, but he told me it was good to talk about it. Anytime I was wondering why just me survived, why did they have to go so soon. He would stare onto my eyes and show me the scars and tell me that everyone of them meant something, each one were words in my book, told the world who I was, what battles I fought, and how hard I fought to be alive. Smiling at the memory I pulled of the road now at the place I hadn't seen in ten years, the place that held so much meaning. As I started to walk through the trees I felt the tears falling down my cheeks and the pain that throbbed through my chest, but I kept walking knowing that it was good being here. The trees started to thin out and open up. Closing my eyes I stopped and stood still for a few minutes trying not to completely break down. When I heard the faint music opened my eyes and saw the gazebo I had built for my sister, it was full of pictures. Stepping closer I saw our initials craved into the white wood. Looking up at the pictures I saw that it was the first time he and I met. The next was us the summer before sophomore year smiling as we stood in the sand at the beach. More pictures were hung carefully for the roof. The last picture was in the center of the gazebo, it was us at graduation cap and gown each holding a diploma and each others hand.
"I told you would see me soon." A deep voice came from behind me. I turned around and jumped into his arms, wrapping my arms around his neck I kissed him passionately. Pulling away to breath he sat me down and pulled me to his chest. I looked up at him, bringing his hand up to my face he wiped the tears away with his thumb. We stood like that for what felt like a lifetime. He cleared his throat, I now noticed the tears that had gathered in his eyes. He stuffed his hand into his pocket pulling out his phone. He pressed play and handed it to me. I saw him standing in front of my parents graves. " I know you can hear me and I just wanted to ask you a question," facing my fathers headstone. Tears now falling down face "I wanted to ask you if I could ask your daughter to marry me, I love your daughter with every fiber of my being, she has made my world light up and be better. I helped her when she was down and she helped me." He paused his shoulders shaking " I will love your daughter till the day I die, she will be cherished and treated like she should."
The video ended tears still slipping down my cheeks. I looked up from his phone and saw him on one knee with a black box in his hands. I placed his phone down and looked back at him. He clenched his jaw and open the box. "Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?" "Yes, of course I'll marry you." I said as he stood up and slipped the ring onto my finger. "I love you." He said pulling me into a kiss. "I love you to my whiskey-eyed angel." I said wiping the tears for his face. "Forever?" "Forever."
