                                                                   AWAKENING

My name is Paige, I am a  Freshman in college, and this is my story......

Darkness that is all I see, until I wake up in one of my classes alone, My head was pounding and the loud ass banging in the distance was not helping.  Who the hell is banging so loudly? Why are they banging?  I don't remember anything that happened the day before, or hours ago, but judging from the lack of  light coming through the window, the has set. I get up off the floor rubbing my temples like my mother used to do when she had head aches. I try to remember anything that I can, but everything is fuzzy and now my head ache splitting. Had I been drugged?

I hear the banging once more and my curiosity gets the best of me. I walk over to the door to go check it out. The halls are empty and the only sound is that damned banging. "Why hasn't anyone let them in"?  I think shaking my head. I decided it would best to just get back to my dorm room and pray that I don't get caught being out after curfew. As I round the corner headed back to my building, I hear shuffling and.... a moan? Then I see them, my Heart drops and a gasp escapes my lips. My mind screams... ZOMBIES ! I turn on my heels and ran, no Fuck that I sprinted to a near by room and lock the door behind me. I'm shaking and my breathing is fast and deep. I think I'm going into a panic attack. My heart is pounding so hard my chest hurts. I've seen plenty of Zombie TV shows and movies, to know what I saw was a Zombie! This is not what my vision of college life was for me.

I try to gather my thoughts by taking deep breathes to calm myself down. Think Paige think. I see the phone on the wall and go to call another room through the intercom,to lure them away from the room. After a while I hear the faintest beep in a room further down the hall. It worked the pounding from their fist stopped and it was quiet once more. I looked out the window to see if the coast is clear. Once I see the coast is clear I ready myself to run for it and yank the door open hoping to seek shelter to the next room. I make it to room 18, which seemed to be a biology lab. I locked the door with a shaky sigh. I felt exhausted even though I just woke up an hour ago. I lazily walked to the very back corner of the room and sat there pulling my knees to my chest. What if there is no one else?  I felt so alone. I silently cried myself asleep that night.

I wasn't asleep long that night. I was jolted out of my slumber by some more loud banging and a car driving fast down some road then a loud crash. The car alarm went off and it was close, great. I sit there hoping for sleep, but fail, so I just sit there waiting for the morning light to spill through the windows.
