Chapter 5:

Ansel’s POV

“Go ahead, Sha-” I started to say, gesturing toward her. “I mean, Aimee.” I tried so hard not to laugh. Before we left, we gave ourselves fake names and disguises so we wouldn’t be bombarded by fans. Shai made me put a beanie on and sunglasses with a cheap mustache and she put on a curly hair wig and shades as well.

“Okay, I’ll have just two eggs, over easy and some toast. With some coffee, please. Go ahead, Ans- I mean, Tommy.” She set down her menu and looked at me smiling. I looked up at the waitress and smiled.

“I’ll take a short stack of buttermilk pancakes, hash brown, bacon, and over easy eggs. With a glass of orange juice.” Shailene was just looking at me, wide eyed. The server walked away and Shai and I both started cracking up.

“Oh my god, we could’ve been caught.” Shailene sputtered out, holding her side from laughing.

“Yeah, but we made some pretty good saves.” I said, sipping my ice water. “They won’t suspect a thing.” We made small talk and then our food came, which smelled quite delicious actually.

“Are you really going to be able to eat all that?” She asked me, staring at the mounds of food on my plate.

“Of course!” I laughed. “You eat like a bird.”

“No, I just eat correct portion sizes.” She jokingly said. We both started eating and man did those pancakes taste bomb.

“So,” Shai started, munching on her toast, “Have you talked to her since yesterday?” I quickly swallowed the bite of pancake I had just taken.

“I..left a comment on one of her pics on Instagram, but I’m not sure if she’s seen it or even replied.” I replied, drinking some of my orange juice.

“She’s probably mad that I didn’t do it right away.” I muttered.

“I doubt it. Why don’t you check?” Shailene questioned, wiggling her eyebrows again. She was so cute sometimes. I slid out my phone and when I clicked the home button, out of all the notifications I saw, one from c.ertifiedfangirl_ was at the top and it said ‘c.erfiedfangirl_ said: Oh my god ANSEL THANK YOU SO MUCH! @anselelgort’

“She responded…” I muttered, barely audible.

“Wait, what?” She asked, looking at me curious. I looked up at Shai and instantly started laughing to myself.

“She responded, Shai. She fucking responded!” I said, louder than before. Shai started to smile and she gave me a high five.

“You guys make a cute couple.” She stated. After I took a couple more bites to finish my plate, I was still smiling and the waitress walked by. I waved my hand signaling for her to stop and she smiled at me.

“Check, please.” I stated, my smile beaming.

 

By the time I got done working on some new Ansølo tracks and relaxed while watching television, Cameron and I were DMing back and forth on Instagram. I really have no other words to describe her with besides beautiful and intriguing.

Cameron’s POV

We were walking through the mall, trying to decide what store we wanted to go into first. Well, my friends were debating and I was just glued to my phone, talking to Ansel. To be honest, my texting speed grew so much faster and I probably looked crazy to everyone else because my eyes would light up every single time my phone vibrated.

“Cameron.” My friend, Maddie(a/n: named after my best friend who recently became an Anselite) said, snapping her fingers.

“Yeah, what?” I looked up, discombobulated. My friends started to laugh under their breath.

“We wanted to know if you wanna go into Forever 21 or Pacsun.” Maddie stated, trying to sneak a peek at my phone.

“We all agreed on Forever 21, but if you wanna go into Pacsun, its fine.” Maddie said.

“Hmm...I pick Forever 21.” I replied, pointing with my phone. Once we got inside, Maddie and I went to look at clothes together since we wear the same size. While she looked at other clothes on the rack, the hangers screeching against the metal, I was still talking to Ansel on Instagram. Wow, I can’t believe I’m actually talking to Tommy from Carrie, Caleb from Divergent, and the beautiful Augustus Waters from The Fault In Our Stars, I thought.

anselelgort: So what’s up with you??

c.ertifiedfangirl_: Nothing, just out shopping with my friends. Hbu?

anselelgort: Just talking to a beautiful girl

c.ertifiedfangirl_: Haha really? What’s her name?

anselelgort: Cameron..

Instantly, I blushed and as I looked up from my phone, I saw Maddie looking at me suspiciously.

“Whatcha doin, Cami?” She questioned, slowing her role on how fast she was going through the clothes on the rack.

“Just talking to a friend.” I stammered, my cheeks getting even redder. Maddie just glared at me.

“Whatever you say.” Maddie muttered. Once the awkward silence seeped into the few feet between us, I replied to Ansel.

c.ertifiedfangirl_: You’re too sweet.

I slid my phone into my pocket and took a deep breath. As I looked around the store, I saw my other two friends searching through clothing.

“Alright,” I confidently started to say, “Lets shop til we drop.” A smile was smeared across Maddie’s face and she pulled me over to the fitting room with a bunch of clothes on her arm.
