The battle was lasting quite a while, everyone beginning to feel fatigued. The attack from the Lusitanians was unexpected as they didn't control that sector. But while the group was traveling through, the ambush was made.

There was a staggering amount of enemy soldiers, and Narsus had his hands full trying to come up with a way to fight back.

They had rode up to the mountains, so they would have a better chance of picking off the soldiers. Even so, they didn't have any army with them, it was done that way so they wouldn't be found. But now they were wedged into a corner.

Geive had men coming at him from every angle, arrows flying past his head. Though he was a very talented fighter, there was only so much he could do to keep up.

Then a arrow hit him in the arm. Wincing, he reached to pull it out. He heard people calling his name. Mistress Farangis? Prince Arslan? He couldn't quite tell with all the yelling around him.

Then another arrow, this time in the upper left of his chest. His movements slowed, feeling weary. These arrows were definitely laced with poison.

He fell off his horse, embedding the arrow even deeper as it broke. He yelled in pain, trying to get up. He grabbed his sword, knowing that enemy soldiers were still all around him.

He just swung, blindly. His vision was getting more foggy and distorted by the second, but he knew he got someone, feeling the sword collide with metal and flesh.

The shouts were starting to soften, but he guessed it wasn't because they were becoming quiet. He hearing must be fading, another result of the poison.

He barely saw men falling in front of him, they must've been shot with arrows. Who were they again anyway? Why were they fighting them? His memories and thoughts were combining into a web of confusion and uncertainty.

He felt another flash of pain across his back. Turning, he saw metal....a sword? A spear? What even are those things? Who was he? Everything was going blank. He didn't know anything anymore but pain and numbness.

He saw a flash of black as more gray, foggy, shapes fell, becoming splattered with red. What was happening?

His knees started shaking and his body wavered. He took steps back, trying to steady himself. He didn't hear, see, or know anything anymore.

He felt one more spike of pain across his chest all the way up to his shoulder. He spit out blood as the force pushed him back. His feet no longer on solid ground. He tried to regain his footing but it was impossible. Why should he anyway? Is there any reason for doing so? Any point?

So he just let himself fall backward. He couldn't even feel the wind blowing past him. Couldn't hear the cries of his friends. Couldn't see Arslan and Daryun reaching out.

He just let himself fall into the deep darkness.
