Sitting at the kitchen table, Jyushi kept quiet as he ate ramen for dinner. He smiled to himself as he recalled fond memories with the others, in which they tried to see which of them could eat the most ramen the quickest. He sighed, a small, peaceful sigh.
That is, until his mother came in.
Grabbing a fistful of his hair, she bashed his head into the table, then proceeding to throw him across the floor. She planted a foot firmly on his chest, standing on it and using the other to kick him as he struggled to breathe.
He gasped for air a bit too quickly, choking as she finally lifted her foot, only to kick him square in the chin. She lifted him by his collar, throwing him against the wall. Sides weakened with pain, shoulder throbbing, Jyushimatsu awkwardly slid to the ground. Giving him a swift kick to the stomach, his mother growled, "Get up." He shakily obliged, swaying as he stood there.
"Aww, what's this supposed to be?" She cooed, clutching his wrist to see cuts.
"Some pathetic cry for HELP?!" She raised her voice, harshly dragging her nails down his arm as he let out a yelp and held his beginning-to-bleed arm. He felt tears finally prick his eyes as he doubled over.
She swung, punching him in the jaw with such force that his head was knocked into the wall and he collapsed, consciousness lost.
He woke hours later, though he didn't move a muscle until he was sure she was gone. After a moment or two, he propped himself up. Groggily standing, Jyushi quietly made his way up the stairs and to his room, carefully closing the door behind himself.
Jyushi sat down at his desk, jaw aching-- no, everything aching. A small drop of blood trickled from up his sleeve. He was usually quick to wipe it up, but couldn't find it in himself to care at the moment. He did, however, care enough to grab a few sheets of paper. He began to write, addressing the letter to the first person he thought of.
Ichimatsu.
Half an hour later, he'd finished writing. Now came the difficult part; choosing his method.
He could slit his wrists or overdose, he supposed. But then his mother would find him. As much as he feared and hated her, he didn't want her finding his corpse.
Hanging? He didn't have any rope, and the rope he and Ichi used for batting was at Ichimatsu's house. He couldn't simply ask for it, as it'd raise questions from Ichi, and he couldn't possibly steal from Ichi, let alone break into his house.
Shooting himself would be too loud, plus, there was a large chance he wouldn't even do it right.
Suddenly, an old friend popped into his head. Homura. She'd tried to jump off of that one cliff by the beach, hadn't she?
He stood up, decided.
He tip toed out the hallway, suicide notes stuffed in his hoodie pocket, when one fell out. Spinning around to pick it up, he saw his mother, standing in the doorway of her bedroom. Snatching the note and dashing out the door, he ran as though he'd never ran before.
Once he was a few blocks into the city and far from home, he collapsed onto a bench and caught his breath. Breathing normally, he counted his notes, hoping he hadn't dropped any, which he hadn't.
Standing once more, he stuffed the notes into a mailbox before continuing on his way to the beach.
Ichimatsu awoke with a sinking feeling in his stomach, despite not having any nightmares. Lazily getting out of bed, he leaned out of his bedroom window, letting out a quiet yawn.
Mrow.
A cat leapt onto his window sill, rubbing against his arm. It wasn't the cat's fault, but he winced as his cuts began to sting beneath his sleeves. Sighing, he pet the cat, thinking of Jyushi as he did so.
Speak of the devil.
Jyushi walked by, something off. He wasn't smiling, nor did he look remotely happy. Not only that, but he was.. limping? This wasn't like him at all.
Quickly tugging his signature hoodie over his head and his sweatpants up his legs, Ichimatsu slipped on his sandals and followed Jyushimatsu.
Where the hell's he going? Ichimatsu began to worry, not that he hadn't been worried already.
Even with a limp, Jyushi was faster than Ichimatsu. Either that, or he was incredibly determined. As they made their way up the hill near the beach, Ichimatsu began to grow tired, his legs not being used to hardly any exercise at all.
Jyushimatsu stood at the edge of the cliff, tears joining the waves as they crashed into the cliff, far below. The wind roared in his ears, preventing him from hearing Ichimatsu's desperate hollers.
Spinning around on his heel, Jyushi took a final step back, hair fluttering and batting at his face. He saw a flash of purple and felt someone grab his forearm. Ichimatsu had lunged after him.
"I-Ichimat-"
Their lips crashed roughly together, and they ignored everything, embracing eachother even in the end.
