Chapter 1

It was another quiet night…

    A young man was out drinking with friends. He and his friends stayed up at the bar getting drunk until midnight. When the time came, he said his goodbyes. He was unaware that someone was lurking in the shadows watching him. He was staggering home until it came to him that it would be faster to take an alleyway. So he decided to use the nearest alley, only to never come out.

    The next day, a group of kids were playing in the alleyways until they heard a scream. One of the girls was standing in a dark, intersection of alleyway staring at the body of a young man. The young man’s body was covered in bite marks. It appeared to be wolves. The kids ran to the police. Soon enough the finding was all over the paper. It was a big headline story. After some time the whole town knew about it.

    In a Manor far in the woods lives a band known as “The Midnight Stars”. The band was hanging out and talking after one of their concerts. Their lead singer Raven said to the drummer Adrian “ How was your mission? I heard around town that a little girl found YOUR kill.”

Adrian, knowing she was joking, said, “Well, my wolves didn’t finish the job like I told them to.”

When he said this, someone sighs, “Sure, blame it on the wolves.” His twin brother Ashe says “They are mine too you know!”

With that remark, everyone started to laugh except the pianist, Raine. Raven looks at him and asks, “What's wrong?”

“ It’s our job to eliminate people and not get caught,” Raine says in a quiet, serious voice. As he says this, everyone loses their smile.

“ It wasn't his fault his wolves didn't do clean up,” The guitarist Drake finally speaks up.Raine glares at him as he says this.

“ So what? They belong to him so he needs to learn to train them to do their job as well,” Raine says in a harsh voice.

Suddenly, the manager walked in saying, “ Everyone get some sleep. We've got a big day tomorrow!”

Ashe smiles, exclaiming, “She always comes in at the right time!”

Raven then adds in, “ Yeah, this argument would have never ended if she hadn't walked in.”

Ash grows a puzzled look on his face and asks,” Who is our next target?”

Raine growls, “You don't need to know since I seem to be the only one taking our job seriously.” Then Raven claps her hands yelling happily, “Alright, everyone stop fighting and get some sleep!” Everyone stared at her blankly then bowed. Considering that she is the leader of their assassin operation.

    The kids were playing hide and seek when a little girl named Grace decided to hide in the woods. Giggling, she ran into the woods and hid in a bush. She waited… only to hear silence. Grace crept out of her hiding place and stood. She started to cry, she cried because she remembered what she saw in the alleyway.

    Walking through the woods was Raven and her band. Ashe stops and grows a worried look on his face.

“Is something the matter?” asks Drake. Ashe looks at them and says, “I think I hear someone crying.”

Understanding his worry, Raven says, “Then let's split up and look for the source.”

Everyone agrees to meet where they were standing and split to find the source of the crying. Once everyone returned to the meeting place they noticed that someone was missing.

“Wheres Raine?” asks Adrian. A sudden voice says “right here.” everyone jumped. Turning around, they sigh with relief, Raine was standing in between two wide trees with a little girl hiding behind him, sniffling.

“Aww, even a mean guy like you can be a softie.” says Raven with a joking smile

Raine glares at her and mumbles “Shut up.” Raven giggles and walks up to the little girl and asks “What's your name?”

“Grace.” the little girl whimpers. Raven smiles as she says this

“Was she the one that was crying?” Adrian asks Raine. Raine shows a small smile and exclaims, “yes, she said that she was lost.”

Raven jumps up. “We are going to the town, she can come along!” grace grows a big smile and follows holding Raine’s hand.

    At the town, a woman was pacing. Grace runs up to her and gives her a big hug. Her mother walked up to Raine. “Thank you for helping my daughter. After what happened the other day she never wants to be alone.” her mother said while bowing. Raine smiles then walks away, and everyone followed behind.
