Peter
"Get your ass down here NOW!" I hear the mistress call from downstairs. What could I've done this time? I think as I walk down the stairs to the lobby. I turn the corner to see her hideous face glaring at me. "Yes?" My voice cracks from being under used.
"Explain this," she says as she points to a broken vase at her moldy desk. "I didn't do it mam."
"You really expect me to believe that one of those angels upstairs (the other kids) broke this expensive piece of art?" She says as she motions to the vase again. "I was upstairs all day. It's Saturday so I don't even have school. So yes I do expect you to believe me," I look her hard in the eyes.
"Bullshit... Get over here clean it up and when your done come get me so we can decide what your punishment should be." I walk behind her to the cleaning closet and look for the duster and the sweeper. Finally finding them I make my way back to the broken vase.
She leaves me in silence as I clean up the mess that one of the other kids made. I was the oldest in the orphanage so everything was my fault. And of course all of my faults have a price. I finish sweeping up the broken shards and go to the trash can and dump it out.
As I put back the supplies I hear a quiet shuffling behind me. I turn around to see Lily she is one of the little orphans who got adopted and is leaving on Monday, she's my favorite. "Hey why are you down here?" I ask looking for the mistress.
"I heard your gonna get in trouble again. Is that true?" She asks as her eyes start to water, she's only seven. "Yes, but don't worry I'll be ok remember it's just a game. I do have to go though," I say hugging her. "Ok bye," she waves as she heads back to her room. I always feel bad for lying to the kid, but it's my responsibility to keep her along with the others safe.
I walk down the lobby, but instead of taking a left to the staircases I go right, this passage takes me to the mistresses office. I knock. "Get in now," she growls from the other side of the door. Slowly I pull the door open. I see the mistress sitting in her chair. She motions for me to go to the closet to the left of her cluttered desk.
"I figured out what your punishment is," she says as she pushes me forward into the dark small room. "No food or water until Monday and thats only because you have school and the extracurricular events after school that last till 6:00. After that you come back here and sit and wait. This will repeat until Friday. Good luck," she says as she clicks the door lock and leaves the room.
This is like my second home. I get punished really often, but I'm not a bad kid, because I don't ever do any of the things I get punished for. It's helpful though because then I have a lot of time to think while I'm here. I've heard on the news that the avengers are looking to lock me (spider-man) up.
Of course they claim it's just to get to know me, but I know it's probably for experiments or something like that. I dwell on these thoughts for the next two hours before I peek through the crack of the door and see the clock read 10:00pm. Knowing I should get some rest I lean my back against the cool metal and let sleep take over me.
