ME MY BROTHER AND THE WAR

Chapter 1

It was just a normal day. Mum sick in bed sick Charlie my brother at war,  Farther who noes where and nor does anyone want to know, the baby as calm as ever and me  just a normal girl in a normal world; with World War 1 going on on the other side of the world with my twin brother in it. I knew he wasn't old enough to go but he didn't tell me he was going until after he had registered. But we of all people were calm about it and from our point of view you just had to charge at the opposition with gun in had and be back before Christmas. But of course it was not so. 

Chapter 2

We found out that the war was nothing like we had been described it was in Charlies second letter saying "the Germans have invented machine guns and they are wiping our army out bit by bit. And I'm sorry but I will never be able to get home before Christmas."                                      Mother got abit dramatic but after she had fallen asleep she was fine, the baby showed no concern about it because they can't understand what  we say and me. I was worried about my twin brother and that something might happen to him. But I knew That he would make it out alive. 

Chapter 3                                                                                                                                                                                    About a week or two later we received a letter saying that Charlie was killed in action. You cant imagine how shocked I was to hear that Charlie my twin and only brother was gone. I really did think he was going to make it. But I was wrong I see that now. It took afew days to get used to Charlies death, I had to keep on reminding myself                                                                                      "He's gone"                                                                                                                                                                              

  Chapter 4                                                                                                                                                                                  A couple of days after the funeral I went to see Charlies grave to lay some of his faverite flowers (lavender because it reminded him of the smell of mother) down. when i noticed something on the ground. it was his pocket watch and believe it or not it was still working. Rusty covered in dirt but still working. So I took it home, gave it a clean, a chain and now. And now it hangs on my neck.  

Chapter 5                                                                                                                                                                                    So now you might call it a happy ending. Mama is all better and has never looked happier, the baby is as healthy and as happy as any baby could be, my brother is here in and on my heart and me. I am the happiest normal girl in a normal world there is...
