Aurora

The room was dark and silent. My thoughts spinning in my head as the weight of my actions came crashing down on me. I was unsure of why I did it now, things were only to get worse from here.

The only light that let me see in the darkness was the light of the full moon, not a cloud in the night sky.

My heart palpated in my chest as I breathed.

How could I have lied so fucking easily!?

Was I even qualified for this?

Everything felt to surreal.

I had been working under the Government for quite some time now as a body guard, equipped and trained since I was a young child, following in my parents footsteps.

Earlier that day I had been summoned to the president's office for a debrief on my next mission, what I wasn't expecting was a location transfer...

Of course, I had to say yes. I had no other choice.

Earlier...

I got the message of my summons through my ear piece as I was standing outside the office door. My black uniform was flush against my body, made to fit me perfectly and allow me to move quickly and without hesitation. My pants were stretchy and I wore a black turtleneck that hugged my neck, an official patch sewn onto my short sleeves and my dyed silver hair up in a bun.

"I am ready." The male voice rang through my ear piece.

I left my post and immediately opened the door and entered.

Towards the back of the room was a desk with two chairs in front of it, wooden with gold leaf trim and red velvet seats. The room was a stark white, the white used everywhere in this god forsaken place. It was almost blinding every time you looked at it.

"Please take a seat Aurora." The man smiled and gestured to the chairs before his desk.

I was his top dog, the leader of his team of body guards. And for good reason.

I was ruthless, killed without mercy or second thought. My only mission was to protect the president. Who cared if other lives were loss in the crossfire I would heap upon intruders or those who tried to harm him.

A quick thinker and could get myself out of any situation.

I walk over to his desk and sit as he pulled out a file. I watched intently as he opened it.

"This, will be your most difficult mission yet..." he trailed.

"How so?" I asked, my eyes meeting his dark ones, glossed over from lack of sleep.

"Well, it's complicated." He began.

"Just get to the point." I stated plainly, not wanting him to drag this out any longer. My eagerness was betraying my face though, and he could see it.

He let out a soft chuckle as he watched my face light up.

"Calm yourself. Before we get to that part, I want you to understand the gravity of this situation. My entire career is at stake, and I, need you to complete an assassination no one else could." He looked at me, his eyes flashed with seriousness.

I sat back in my seat, which I didn't realize I was at the edge of until now.

He watched me intently and nodded before continuing.

"This will be an inside job. The vampires are back at it again." He said in a low tone.

"I need you to buckle down and take this seriously, and don't blow your cover. You're going in incognito." He started.

I nodded, silently telling him to continue.

"You need to infiltrate their lair, and get close with the heir, and kill them-"

"No problem boss." I cut him off and stood up, a smirk on my face.

"Not so fast. You need to know more about the royal family first, you need to learn about the heir." He said sternly.

"This is what I mean by you need to take this seriously! You're always quick to agree without hearing the details, or even the possibility of the worst case scenario, what the stakes are." He snapped as he chastised me.

I sat back down and crossed my arms.

"Much better." He sighed.

I already knew about the royal family, but the heir was a new addition I had just learned about. He was supposedly as ruthless as me, if not, worse. I didn't understand what more he needed to tell me about this mission since I already knew practically everything about the royal family, taught to me in my training.

Revolting bloodsuckers.

The president looked up at me and placed his fingers on his temples, massaging them and closed his eyes for a moment.

He finally went back to the documents from the file and looked at me.

"We have received word of a potential uprising against the government. We have tried to negotiate terms with them but they will not listen. That's where you come in." He trailed.

"We need you to act as the heir's body guard and plan your assassination accordingly." He said nonchalantly.

"We have the information here for you in this file, use the little knowledge we have and take them down." He closed the file and slid it towards me. "Read over it, plan accordingly, don't blow your cover." He looked at me. He was serious.

"Do you think you're qualified?" He hissed.

"Obviously." I rolled my eyes.

He laughed.

"Atta girl. Now see yourself off and prepare. Your transfer is tomorrow morning. I'll be sending you off. Don't disappoint me."

"I haven't yet have I?" I smirked.

He let out a hearty laugh and dismissed me.

I sighed, my bags were packed, my weapons and my clothes.

I stared at the file on my desk with uneasiness. Something about this didn't seem... right, but I just shrugged the feeling off.

I got out of the open window I was perched in, making sure to place the screen back and wandered back over to my desk, flicking on my lamp light. I opened the file and began to read it again, shaking my head as I did so.

This was dangerous. They were breaching the agreed upon laws, something that made my stomach church. It was disgusting what they had done.

Taking humans captive and forcing them to allow feeding.

Disgusting.

Suddenly, I felt a wave of exhaustion take ahold of my and my eyes began to close.
