Dex's Final Words

If Dex's last words to Sophie were,

"One last hug?"

I really would cry.

Sophie cradled Dex in her arms. "Sophie?" He coughed up blood. His eyes were red but he had the warmest smile she had ever seen. "Th- thank you Sophie. For-" He coughed up more blood, "For being my friend. Just... please. One... last... hug?" He croaked. Sophie wrapped Dex in a hug so tight she was probably hurting him. But she couldn't let go. Maybe her warmth would keep him from going cold forever. She focused on his breathing. His chest rose and fell.

Up. Down. Up. Down. Up. Down. Up...

Dex coughed.

down.

Sophie screamed.
