Chapter 1

As I ran through the dark forest that was only lit by the full moon I couldn't help but think.

LIZ WHY THE FUCK DID RUN AFTER HIM!!

I'm such a fucking idiot.

¨Yeah you are an idiot.¨ The other voice in my head said.

¨Not the time Emily.¨ I probably sound like a fucking crazy person arguing with myself as I ran into trees. Well, I'm a Gate Keeper and every Gate Keeper from the beginning of time has had another voice in there head. It sounds hella weird but its the reality of my screwed up life. You're born with the soul of long ago Gate Keeper so basically your whole life you grow up with an old dead Gate Keeper inside of your head. Telling you what to do bossing you around making sure you make the best decision as a Gate Keeper.

Her names Emily she was 18 when she died so she's my age. She does always make the best choices but I'm too stubborn to listen.

Like for instance, she begged me not to leave the gates to run after him but I didn't listen.

¨You know you really run slow Liz¨Emily said with a bored tone.

¨Shut the fuck up I'm running as fast as I can.¨ I shot back.

I sit in a chair all day talking the Emily or reading I didn't exercise.

I ran as fast as I could as I heard the sound from behind me get closer. Then I tripped. Of fucking course. I propped myself up on my elbows and looked around. I couldn't see anything. Or hear anything. I was pretty fearless but I could feel Emily's scared thoughts flashing in my head. She was scared shitless it was kind of funny. It made me chuckle as I reached out to grab the sword on my back.

I slowly slipped it out and faced it in front of me before getting up. Then I saw eyes the same eyes I had seen not too long ago the eyes that got me into this mess.

1 hour before

¨Emily that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life¨

¨How would you know you've never even met a human.¨ Emily laughed.

¨But I know for a fact that they-¨ I was cut off by a rustling sound behind me.

I whipped my head back my long curly strawberry blonde hair fell out of the bun into my face. My green eyes widened at the sight in front of me. I've never seen one this close before its large body towered over me. Its yellow eyes calm but sad. I slowly walked towards the sight in front of me. He looked powerful and strong. He probably could snap my neck and kill me in seconds but I wasn't scared. I brushed my fingers in his long black fur, and for a second his normal human eyes flash over his wolf eyes. But just for a second then they were gone and back to the yellow they were before. His human eyes were hazel. They looked like they were hiding something they looked scared.

¨What are you doing you're going to get us fucking killed¨ Emily screamed in my head.

Shut up Emily. I thought to myself.

He looked behind me and everything changed in seconds. Before he looked calm and gentle now his eyes were cold and bitter. He pushed me aside and lunged at the mysteries wolf I had just notice that was behind me. He fought him off finishing by snapping the other wolf by his neck. The other wolf turned into its human form. I've read that before that when a wolf dies it turns into its human form. The once mysteries wolf looked scary with long brown hair and dark features. More wolves started coming out of the forest surrounding him.

Oh shit. I thought.

Let's get out of here while we still can. Emily said with a shaky voice.

But for some reason, I couldn't look away from the sight in front of me. He was bigger than the rest of the wolves. He looked stronger than them more powerful more capable of killing each and every one of them. They barked at each other and growled. They were talking with each other.

¨I wonder what they're talking about?¨ I asked Emily.

¨Who cares let's get out of here.¨ Emily said.

Then it was quiet. The noise stopped. I only looked away for a second.

¨We have to go find him.¨ I said under my breath.

¨No we are staying right here. Our job is making sure no one leaves.¨ Emily whined.

¨Exacly our job is making sure no one leaves well someone just left we have to go after him.¨ I said then grabbed my sword and took off running. I ran as fast as I could into the forest where I'm guessing where they went. As I got deeper into the forest I realized I had no clue where I was.

¨Shit.¨ I mumbled under my breath.

¨You got us lost again didn't you.¨ Emily sighed in disbelief.

¨Of course, not you dumbass I know exactly where I am.¨I lied. But its kinda hard to hide your thought from someone who is your thoughts. I looked around. Ok, all I have to do is analyze the situation. Which way did I come from?

Wait shit.

What way did I come from?

You got to be kidding me.

¨Liz are you saying you got us lost in the middle of an endless forest with who knows what out there. IN THE DARK. ON A FULL MOON.¨ She screamed at me.

¨Ah but it's not 'who knows what out there' because we know whats out there. We read about all the monsters and all the traps in here every day.¨ I sighed while still trying to find a way out of here. I started walking in a random direction. The forest was all the way around the gates yeah it might look like I'm in a little booth in front of some scary gates. But there's so much more to it. Inside those gates is the only entrance to the realm of creatures of all kinds. Everything for a fairy to a vampire lives in that realm in less you live in the forest. The things that live in the forest that's what really scares me. It mostly monstera and traps so no human could ever find the gates. The forest is could El bosque sin fin¨ which means the endless forest. Like Emily stated earlier. But there were things in this forest that were in here because they were banished.  Those are the things that scared me.

¨Liz I'm scared.¨ Emily whispered like someone else could hear her talking.

¨I know I can feel it.¨ I simply stated.

¨Emily I don't want to alarm you but someones watching us.¨ I whispered to her in my head.

¨Serioly come on let's go then.¨ She cried.

I started to pick up my pace walking a little bit. Then I heard something running up behind me. I whipped around but nothing was there. Then I saw a group of wolves running towards me. I ran as fast as I could. Trying not to trip over branches and roots. I could barely see anything in front of me considering how dark it was. But that didn't matter I just knew I had to get out of there or I was going to die. 

And that's what brings me up to here. The present.
