Kamryn's POV

"I personally think that..." I listened as my best friend, Addison, droned on about the new teacher in our school, Mrs. Catherine. She was nice and all but there was something about her that felt wrong...like she couldn't be trusted.

"Are you even listening to me?" I rolled my eyes at her "Maybe...what do you think?" she gave me one of her sweet smiles before she asked "Are you coming for my brother's party tonight?" I thought for a while before replying...I really didn't want to come but I also didn't want to let my best friend down "Yeah...I guess I'm coming." She gave me a hug before running off to her brother's car. "Bye Kam!" she yelled before entering his car and all I could do was wave.

'What's taking you so long?' I sent my neighbor, Dylan Lane, who so happens to be my friend and also attend the same school as me, a text. "Sorry...I had something to do" he said as he appeared behind me. I rolled my eyes as he led the way to his car. We got in and he started the car. "So..." If he was trying to get my attention, it worked so whatever he had to say better be reasonable.

"Your mum called...she said she wouldn't be able to make it home tonight...so I was wondering if you'll stay at my place?" I smiled at him and said "or you could come with me to Danny's party." He smirked and answered "sure, sounds fun. By the way, your mum dropped of a few things at my house. I'm guessing she knows about the party." I realized I would have to change at his house. "Yeah...she knows. So I'm changing at your house?" he gave a light chuckle before replying. "Don't worry about it. You can change in my sister's room"

His sister, Alice, is nice-ish. She also attends our school but left early since she got suspended for insulting and beating up a teacher...she's not someone to be messed with.

"Thanks" I said as I got out of Dylan's car making my way to his front door. I walked in and got greeted by a hug from Dylan's younger brother, Lucas. "Hi Kam!" I laughed at his excitement. "Hey sweetie." I turned my attention to the Kitchen and found Dylan's mum. "Hi Mrs. Lane. I hope you don't mind if I stay the night here. My mum won't be back for a few hours." I asked as she added a bit more seasoning to whatever she was cooking. It smelled really good. "I'm gonna be at Danny's for a while...he's having a party and I was wondering if Dylan could come along."

I bit my lip anxious to hear what she would say. "Yeah sure, knock yourselves out...as long as you take Alice with you." I laughed at her statement and she laughed along. "Thanks" I said before making my way upstairs to Alice's room.

"Hey Alice. What's up?" she glanced up at me before doing whatever on her laptop. "I'm bored...and pissed off." I smiled at her remembering her mum's words. "Well if you're bored why don't you come with me to Danny's party." She closed her laptop and jumped off her bed. "Don't just stand there...go get ready!"

It took her at least 30 minutes to finish getting ready. Soon enough, the door opened. "Finally." I said, relieved to see Alice ready to go. She rolled her eyes as I opened the door making my way downstairs with Alice trailing behind me. "Took you two long enough." Dylan said as he grabbed the key to his car and went out the front door, Alice and I followed him. "Don't blame me. Your sister's the one who took 30 minutes to get ready. I was just as bored as you." I said, getting into the car. He laughed a little and Alice rolled her eyes in anger.

We drove in a comfortable silence before Alice asked a question. "Am I a third wheel?" I glanced at Dylan who shrugged. He wanted me to answer the question but I couldn't provide an answer. "What exactly does that mean?" she laughed a little at my question before putting on a straight face. "Wait you're serious? ...you and Dylan are dating right?"

I could have sworn that Dylan almost lost focus and swerved off the road. "Ally, the person that told you that is lying." I smiled at the nickname Dylan uses for Alice. "No one told me that. From the way you two act, it's easy for someone to assume you're dating." I didn't know how to react to that. Lucky for me we already arrived at Daniel's house.

We got out of the car. It's not the first time I've been to a party at their house but it's definitely the first time I've seen this many people in their house. "Hey there beautiful." I got greeted by a drunk guy basically staggering out the house. I could hear Alice laugh before another drunk guy gave her a hug. It was now my turn to laugh.

I walked in with Alice and Dylan behind me. "Hi Kam!" before I could brace myself I was tackled by a hug from my best friend Addison. "Hey Addy...you're quite the hugger...Please let go." I said struggling to breath. She let go laughing. "Sorry...Oh hey Dylan. Hi Ally." They waved as a reply to her greeting. She took us to a room with students gathered in a circle...then I realized what was going on, a game of spin the bottle.

"Hey Kam, glad you could make it." I smiled as Danny approached us. "Hi Danny, hope you don't mind, I invited Alice and Dylan." He shrugged and smiled but I could tell it was forced. "No problem...wanna play spin the bottle?" I looked over his shoulder to see Emily kissing James. "Um...I don't know. Maybe later." He gave a disappointed smile and I felt kind of bad. "Yeah...okay."

I made my way through the crowd and to the backyard. I sat on the steps staring at the stars. It's been a while since I've seen any. I remember when Kyler, Dad, Mum and I would go to the Lightmaren and sit on the grass staring at the stars till it was way past our bedtime. Now my parents are divorced and my mum is too busy with work to pay any attention to me.

The Lightmaren is a place not to too far from town. That was when we were living in Boston. Now I'm in London with my mum while my Dad and brother are in New Jersey.

"Hey, you okay?" I was a bit startled as Dylan sat beside me. "Yeah...just remembering some good times I had while my parents were still together." He gave me a hug and we sat in that position, enjoying the moment.
