Lilly Evans sat in the library working industriously on her transfiguration essay, oblivious to the three boys that were speaking in hushed tones and gesturing pointedly toward her. She hastily pushed her auburn hair behind her ear and resumed scribbling with her favorite quill. She continued in this manner, the trio still whispering behind her, until she was interrupted by a prod on the back. She looked up angrily to see the face of Severus Snape and her anger melted away. His greasy
hair lay in folds around his pointed face. She did not care for his appearance, nor would many first years but inside she knew it was only a matter of time before she would begin to get ridiculed for hanging around with him. She didn't care. He was her friend, the boy who told her of the blood that ran in her veins, the boy who made her joyful.
"Hey Sev", she greeted him.
Little did she notice that the three boys had paused in their conversation and were staring at them more intently than before. Severus smiled for a second, and then his smile changed to an astonished look as he took in her assignment. "Lilly, you already finished your transfiguration wasn't it just assigned today?". "Yeah she replied it's our first piece of homework so I want to get a really good mark" The conversation continued in this manner until they both claimed that they had to go
back to their dorms. Lilly got up and stretched still astonished at Hogwarts and wondering how she would ever sleep. She was almost out of the library when she was tapped on the back again. She turned to see the oh so popular James Potter. It was only his first day and he already had people lining up to be his friend (girls especially), although he only seemed to take to two boys, one of which looked okay if you counted out the boyish grin, he had dark brown hair and looked unnaturallytired. His name I knew to be Remus Lupin. The other one looked absolutely arrogant. He was unnaturally handsome with
endless gray eyes and long black hair. I looked at James Potter and decided I hated him, I didnt know why I just did. But being Lilly Evans, I was required to be polite. His untidy black hair was ruffled as if he had just got out of bed, he was slight and had almost the perfect build for a seeker or so I heard ( I had no idea what this Quittich thing is, I'd have to read up on that), and his hazel eyes burned with mischief. I was about to say hi when he rudely asked who I was talking with. I looked him in the eye and stated
"Severus Snape".
"The Slytheren, he scoffed, we call him Snivelous".
Ha polite I thought, ya right. Harsh laughter erupted from his two friends whom I would not even glance at for fear of losing the effect of my glare.
"What do you want with me Potter im just a stupid muggle born"?
He looked really shocked at this. It was then that my suspisions that boys were stupid were confirmed.
"Dont ever say that" he pleaded.
" I dont want your sympathy Potter", and on that note I walked away.
As soon as I was out of view a smile brightened my features.
"My goodeness what would Petunia think of my rude behavior", I said in mock worry?
I laughed all the way up to my new dorm.
