Logan was slouching in his chair, his face pulled into a scowl. School was about to let out and he felt as if though he couldn't stand another minute of class. Noah was in front of him, watching him intently. "Hey, Logan, why're you mad? Your girlfriend break up with you or something?"
Logan glared at the younger. "I don't have a girlfriend. Idiot." Noah smiled, hitting Logan's shoulder playfully.
"See? You're just mad because you don't have a girlfriend. And I really don't see why not. Literal piles of girls confess to you, what? Daily?"
"Why does everyone expect me to have a love life? Maybe I'm just not ready for a relationship yet. Maybe I need to find my true self first."
"'True self?' What's this about? And, trust me, I really don't expect you to have a love life. Hell, I'm not even happy in my own relationship, Logan."
"Wait. What?"
Noah's eyes widened, he looked taken aback. He fidgeted with the collar of his uniform shirt and directed his attention to the floor--or anywhere other than Logan's face, really.
"Nothing. I just. . . Just pretend you didn't hear anything, yeah?"
"Uh, no. What were you talking about?" Logan scowl was gone. And now--if anything, he looked incredulous.
"Nothing!"
"Doesn't sound like nothing. Seriously. You can trust me, ok?"
"What if it's something I don't want to talk about, Logan?"
"Doesn't matter. If you want to talk, then you talk."
"I don--"
The bell rang, signaling the end of the school day. Students shuffled to the door, eager to leave class. The noise of restless kids flooded the hall, which made it almost impossible for Logan to hear Noah.
Logan gave up on trying to speak over the noise. He took out a piece of paper and scribbled a few words. He held it up, Noah's eyes narrowing to read the paper.
'Come over.'
