The Final

I knew Rose high school hated me when all the girls found out Id been paired with their golden boy. Ivan was selected as my final assignment partner, he was everyone's perfect image of a boyfriend and my crush, I knew he really did not like me the way we started things.

So you're telling me you're a soprano and you don't even know what a soprano is?! he shook his head biting his lip ring in frustration, he rolled his eyes making me cower under his glare. "Come after school don't be late," he said walking away from me.

Everyone would tell me that I sucked and that Ivan would not show up to sing with me on stage. I heard rumors that Ivan had said That I had no potential, It broke my heart. But the Ivan I saw was kind and loving, we would sometimes sit making paper airplanes talking about what we wanted to be or simply question each other. Every day we practiced was making my feelings grow for him, despite everyone telling me not to get my hopes up, I did and I had no control over my heart. The millions of shocks I felt when we brushed hands or when he smiled made butterflies erupt in me.

Ivan was running late that day, I put my playlist on shuffle,"Like I'm Gonna Lose You" by Meghan Trainor was playing I began to sing.

I sang the chorus I heard Ivan's voice softly singing along with me I closed my eyes savoring the moment, our voices mixing in perfect harmony his smile wide as he heard me sing without with his help soon as we finished he kissed me smiling against our lips.

"You sounded amazing"

"Thank you ," I said brushing my hair behind my ear feeling blush invade my cheeks "I guess we're singing that song for our final" he smiled knowing tomorrow was our final, he left like nothing had happened.

Today was our final I stood alone on the stage waiting for the song to begin, Ivan was nowhere in sight and I took a breath beginning the song.

People stared and I felt my confidence leaving me when the song got to Ivan's part and he wasn't there. I looked at the floor and wished that Ivan was here singing his part to the song, the crowd began to snicker and I could hear a few comments about how he was just going to ditch me. Tears formed in my eyes I turned off my mic and before I could exit the stage I heard Ivan's verse "in the blink of an eye" I turned around he stood on the stage smiling his hand reached and held mine he gave me a rose the music stopped and everyone was silent. "I don't care what people have to say I love being with you and I love making you smile I would do this one hundred times to be with you".
