I let out a harsh breath as I walked down the street, thoughts circling on an endless loop in my brain. In the course of just a couple months, my life changed drastically. All of Riverdale actually. Only a week after Jason Blossom's disappearance, my own mother was found dead in a ditch with a bullet in her brain. I shivered at the thought, and clamped my eyes tight.

Since my mother was from the Southside, and a serpent for that matter, her death wasn't avenged. There was no justice. The police were more concerned about the missing and presumed dead, Jason Blossom. The Southside grieved her, but there was no mention of her on the Northside. What was right about that?

Even though I'm emancipated, I was whisked away from my Southside home, unable to pay the rent of our two story house, I moved in with my aunt, Alice Cooper. Southside turned Northside golden girl, marrying Hal Cooper, and working at the town's newspaper office, the Register. Even she doesn't speak of her sister's death, my mother's death. After all, they did have a falling out when Alice left the Southside. I'm one of the few people who knows her history, but she keeps my secret, even though she doesn't like it, so I will keep her's.

I've been staying with my Aunt a total of three weeks now, and I haven't had much contact with my southside friends lately as I have been trying to settle in. All except one. Jughead Jones. I've known him since we were little, playing together for as long as I can remember, and doing so, I also know his friends who go to Riverdale High, which I will be starting bright and early tomorrow, although I don't really get along with them that well, except for Betty, but even then that relationship is strained.

I finally reached the familiar lot of the Twilight Drive-In, and I smiled warmly, reminiscing about all of welcome memories. "Songbird!" a familiar voice yelled. I quickly glanced up, and recognized the man who called my nickname.

"Hey, F.P." I said tiredly, looking up at the older man. "I'm sorry I haven't been around much, I've been getting settled at the Cooper's." I told him.

"No, no, don't worry about it, Leda. We look after our own, you know that. We understand that things have been tough for you." F.P. said, also Jughead Jones' father, and leader of the Southside Serpents. "Where's your jacket?" he asked.

"Aunty Al said that it's best to keep that part of my life hidden while I'm staying with her. Northsiders don't exactly treat us that well, now do they?" I asked, referring to myself also being a serpent. I looked down at my chest and saw that my snake tattoo was peaking out from the low collar of my shirt.

"Yeah, you're right." He said, nodding his head.

"I promise I'll be around more once I start up school again, and get used to it." I told him honestly. "At least I'll have Jughead and Betty to show me around." I sighed.

"How is he?" F.P. said, somberly.

"He's doing okay, he really is. He's a bit pissed off at Archie for bailing on us for our trip without a word, but he's okay. You know I would tell you if something was wrong or if he was in trouble." I reassured him. F.P. nodded his head, and I sighed. "Speaking of which, I'm about to get him, and head to Pop's to make sure he is eating." I said.

"You're too good for us, Leda." He sighed.

"Like you said, we look after our own." I cheekily said, smiling, before parting ways. I walked over to the movie booth, and knocked gently on the door.

"Who is it?" Jughead asked.

"Who do you think, dumbass?" I called back. I heard him laugh through the closed door. I pushed open the door, and saw that he was on his cot.
