Chapter 2

Jack Johnson's POV

I woke up in an unfamiliar room with a wet cloth on my head. I looked around my surroundings. This room looked very unfamiliar. And, girly. Then, a girl around my age with blonde hair and hazel eyes walked into the room with another cloth.

"Hey you're awake." she said.

"Oh, um hey." I said. "I'm Jack."

"My name is Jasmine." she said. Jasmine came up to me and sat down next to me.

"Pull up your shirt." she ordered. I gave her a confused look. "What?" I asked.

"Pull up your shirt please." she repeated. I then slowly pulled up my shirt, not really sure of what I was doing and why, but then saw a huge bruise that was black and blue. If you looked closely, you could see an imprint from Jack. Damn. She put the cold cloth on it. I winced slightly from the pain and also the coldness of the cloth.

"It's ok. It won't hurt soon" she said.

"So how did I get here?" I asked.

"Well, I was coming out of school. And I heard these noises. So I took a look and saw some teenage boys beating you up. But they managed to get away, so I helped you into my car and brought you to my house. Don't worry though, I called your mom and told her you were here for a project and ended up falling asleep" She explained. I nodded, silently thanking her, before looking at my phone and checking the time. 9:25 am.

"Shit." I muttered under my breath.

"What?" Jasmine asked.

"It's nothing. I just don't like missing school" I lied. Even though she saw was what happened today, she doesn't need to know the whole story. She nodded at me, looking a little skeptical form my answer.

I laid back down on her bed, which was very comfy.

"Thanks for everything." I said, closing my eyes.

"No problem." she said.

Jasmine's POV

"No problem." I answered as he fell back asleep. He needed it anyways. I felt bad for Jack. Why did those boys even pick on him? He looked like he could never hurt a fly.

"If you don't mind me asking, why did those guys do that today?" I asked, slightly curious, but also guilty for interrupting him trying to get sleep.

"It was just payback for something that happened a while back." He answered nervously. I could tell he was lying, but didn't push it. I barely knew Jack and didn't want to barge into his private life.

"Oh well Im sorry for what happened today" I gave him a small smile.

"It's ok. I can handle it. I mean, it's just that-" He responded before I cut him off.

"Just what?"

"No one in school has really cared for me, let alone talk to me. So thanks for that." He smiled this time. He had a beautiful smile. I let Jack go to sleep and then proceeded to go downstairs and just watch TV for some time.

It was a few hours later around 1:30 when Jack slowly came down the stairs. I watched as he walked over to the couch I was seated on and gives a quick smile before handing me the cloths he was using earlier.

"Thanks for today. Maybe I'll see you around." He thanked and I just gave him a smile and a nod before putting my arms around him for a hug.

Shit, why'd I do that?

Before I could pull away, Jack hesitantly put his arms around me, squeezing my body slightly. He was a great hugger, for sure. We then broke the hug and I led him to the front door.

"Bye." He waved with a slightly tinge to his cheeks, before turning around and heading down the street. I closed the door once I couldn't see him walking anymore.

Jack Johnson's POV

As I headed back to school, I couldn't help but think of Jasmine. She was so pretty and I don't know why she even wanted to help me. I was a mess and she doesn't need to get involved in my business.

My stomach was still hurting, this it took me longer to make my way back to school. It took me a while and many breaks, but I made it in time to see the guys standing there. Like they were waiting for their prey.

"Where were you in school?" Taylor asked as I made my way closer to where they were.

"I-um overslept?" I said, but it came out as a question.

Most of them nodded, but didn't say a word. I glanced at Shawn and Aaron in the back and saw they were just staring at the floor, both biting their bottom lip.

I stood there, waiting for one of them to strike. It's been a few minutes and none of them have made a move. Why couldn't they just start? I had to get home.

"Are you going to start or what?" I asked softly, but with a bit of an attitude.

"What did you say?" Nash sneered, cracking his knuckles.

"I asked when you were going to start" I repeated a little louder, making sure they could hear me. They all stole  glances at each other before springing into action. Aaron and Shawn had already pinned me to the wall while the others beat me until I fell on the floor.  Then they started kicking me in my face and stomach. I heard a loud snap and blood starting coming out rapidly. I laid on the floor, losing consciousness.

"Please stop." I said weakly.

"SHUT UP!" Cameron yelled at me.

"Maybe we should stop." Aaron said.

"I agree." Shawn agreed.

"Oh you wanna help the little nerd." Gilinsky said and kicked me one last time before nodding to the others. They then started to walk away, but through my blurry vision I could see someone just standing there. Jasmine?

The unknown person then bent down next to me before speaking.

"Im sorry, I went along with this. I need to help you." They told me, but I could barely understand it was I was losing consciousness. The last thing I felt was being lifted up into someone's arms and walking away from the scene.
