“Ma you don’t even know him. Maybe you should take the time to actually have a conversation with him.”

“That ghetto A tattoo on his neck is all I need to know, that he’s beneath you.”

“Okay Mama, it’s time for you to go.”

“So you choosing some man over me?”

“Mama, I’m not choosing anybody. You’re my mother I would never allow him to disrespect you. And that’s my man. And I’m not gonna let you disrespect him.”

“Tell Durrell to meet me in the car. I’m not going to stay inside anywhere I’m not wanted.” She left dramatically in huff.

It almost made me laugh. I had a mother for the biggest Drama Queen, and a man for the biggest Drama King. I needed to get my life in order, I laughed to myself.

I contemplated going after her, but I just couldn’t right now. I closed the door, and went to get Durrell. I was caught off guard by the dog sounds coming from the living room.

I walked in to find Durrell and August doing Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated chants and stepping. I know it doesn’t seem like it. But yes my brother went to college and graduated. Surprising I know.

“Amb why you didn’t tell me your young tenderloin was a Que Dawg?” Durrell and August did a handshake.

“I saw the brand on his arm.” August was referring to the Ω sign Que’s tended to have branded on their body.

“That’s news to me.” I said looking at August he never told me he was in a fraternity.

On top of that, he seemed too calm to be a Que. They stayed partying and were super freaks….now that I think about it. He may not party, but it explains his overtly sexual behavior.

“I go up to the events at Emory sometime. I ain’t never seen you.”

“Been busy. My fam moved down here, been trying to get them right.”
