In the midst of struggle
I opened my heavy laden eyes
I saw that I was under water
The whole world blurred out in my sight.
I realized I was drowning deep in the ocean
Just another life perishing
My body swallowed by the troubled waters.
My strength long gone
Where did my achievements go when I was in dire need of it
My relations I so treasured?
My possessions?
My position?
My wavering lifeline flashed me with memories
Of what I've been
And of what I did
What purpose did it give me?
Now that I am disappearing
What did it really offer me?
Now I know what to do
I've learned and I'm better,
In the midst of drowning
I learned my biggest lesson.
Now who could save me?
The world turned dark
I realized this is my end
Lost and unsaved.
I could have given up
But in the midst of darkness shone a light.
So bright, it made me happy
It gave me peace and calm
Then I heard a voice
So serene, so calm
My child, I am here
The light engulfed me
Fought the darkness away
It lifted me above the troubled waters
And taught me to walk on the water.
I trusted and followed
Above the troubled waters
Towards the light that shone so bright
And gave me life.
I was saved by his amazing grace.
