After Zeedan spent weeks trying to stir up trouble between Kate and Rana, his estranged wife gave him an ultimatum- either he accepts that she has moved on and leaves her alone, granting her a divorce, or she will report him for harassment.

Initially Rana, being the kind hearted person she is, tried to let him down gently and apologised if she had led him on and gave him false hope. However he still hadn't got the message and insisted that Rana still loved him.

Eventually it was Yasmeen that had talked sense into him and insisted that he agreed to the divorce and moved on with his life. The divorce papers were filed and now it was just a matter of waiting for everything to be finalised the the decree absolute to come through.

Zeedan had decided that there was nothing left for him in Weatherfield and sold Speed Daal to Rana and Imran. As they both had their own jobs they needed somebody to run the restaurant on a daily basis so they offered the job to Kate, who was delighted to accept.

Kate wasted no time in making her mark and offered Sophie a job in the office managing the books. It had helped to repair their friendship and also helped Sophie massively as it gave her renewed optimism and a feeling she was making something of her life.

When Rana and Kate discussed staffing, Rana had mentioned that Kayla was doing a great job but there was times where she seemed to be over worked, so Kate decided to hire another waitress. Having overheard Bethany say she was looking for a new challenge, Kate offered her the job.

There had also been a big change in their living arrangements. Following her brother's departure, Alya had decided to move back into Number 6 with Yasmeen. At the same time, Rana had decided to move in with Kate at the flat.

Although there had been a lot of changes in a short space of time, Kate and Rana were delighted as they were finally out in the open as a proper couple without anyone causing trouble for them- which was really all they had wanted all along. Having their own business was a bonus.

Bethany, Sophie and Kayla had all quickly become friends too. Although Bethany was slightly younger than Sophie and Kayla, their similar personalities meant that they all got on really well from the start- that had certainly been a benefit to all three of them.

After everything she had been through Bethany felt like she had finally got her life back on track. She was loving working at the restaurant and it turned out she was a pretty good waitress. It also gave her some independence as she wasn't around her family all the time.

Having given up window cleaning Sophie felt like she was lacking direction in her life, but managing the books gave her a chance to do something useful. This was definitely a job she could see herself making a career out of.

As for Kayla, she was still fairly new to the street so working there and making new friends very quickly made her feel settled. This was her first waitressing job but she was loving it- she was especially keen to impress her new boss.

Imran and Rana regularly visited to see how everything was going and they couldn't be happier. Bethany joked that Rana just wanted an excuse to see Kate, which Rana admitted was at least partly fair comment.

Speed Daal had only been open for a few months, but already it had been given rave reviews and was packed almost every night. For everyone concerned, things couldn't be going better and the future was looking very bright
