Pulling into the driveway of the home he once shared with Wendy, Lilly and now shared with Shelly and his boys, Jax killed the engine of his bike. Remaining still taking in the silence of the deep night, he glanced down to his hands covered by his black leather gloves. His mind was rattled, as it always seemed to be after nights as the one he had. He felt defeated by the weight of the last 24 hours, the truth he spilled, the lies he had been told, the betrayal of a fellow brother, the fear that lived in another. Jax sat in the darkness of his street for seconds before climbing from his bike, making his way to the front door.
When he stepped in the house was silent, peaceful, a feeling of warmth in the air the screamed home to his mind. This was his place of peace, his place where it didn't matter the sins he committed, the horrible things that stained his soul was left at the threshold. Nothing was tainted within the four walls, innocence from his sons, love from his old lady it all brought Jax that moment of relief he searched for so often. The demons in his mind grew silent in their celebration of their recent release as he stopped just outside his eldest sons door. Looking in a him sleeping, Jax took a moment to relax his shoulders. This boy loved him, he didn't judge him or care what he was and had forgiven his father for more than Jax could have imagined.
Stepping just the short distance down the hall to Thomas' room, Jax moved to the side of his crib. Smiling lightly at the perfection of his second child, a soul that was created out of love regardless if it was during an act that was harmful to another. He knew he had hurt Lilly when he cheated on her with Shelly but when his eyes set forth to his son, the question on if he would ever change it flew from the window. Reaching down to grab the top of the cover Jax suddenly stopped as his eyes fell to his hands, still covered by the gloves. Looking to his son, sleeping soundly, Jax moved from the bedroom to the bathroom...his eyes glancing in at Shelly sleeping to the center of their bed.
Closing the door of the bathroom, locking it, he made his way to the sink. Looking down to his hands Jax slowly began to pull the leather from his hands, one finger at a time. As his skin became free of the material Jax's jawline tensed seeing the stain of red that covered his hands. He did not feel sorrow for the act he had committed, there was no questions on if he had to do it. Grabbing a rag from the shelf he ran it under the water, rubbing soap on his hands seeing the water turn red as it flowed down the drain. Looking up in the mirror, seeing his reflection, he threw the rag to the surface before turning and starting to strip down.
Stepping into the shower, the hot water rolling down his body, he leaned forward placing his head against the wall. The flashbacks of the hour before moved through his mind convincing himself that the acts he had committed were indeed the ones that needed to be done. Lies. Betrayal. Dangerous deals. Secrets revealed. Weakness' shown. The list that went on was enough for Jax to take action on his own without a vote from the club. It was these moments, these acts that the weight of his position weighed heavy on him.
