Dan and Phil were best friends since preschool. Now that they are in senior year of high school, they have been friends for about 14 years. They knew each other than they knew themselves.
Well, expect for one secret. Neither boy knows the other is gay. And that they have a gigantic crush on each other.
"I have something I need to tell you..." Phil started one day when they were eating lunch together at school.
"Yeah?" Dan put down his bag of crisps.
"I- I'm gay." Phil said nervously and looked at Dan frightened of the reaction.
Dan's jaw dropped. "Oh. My. God." Dan smiled big.
"What?!" Phil got a lot more scared. "I'm still me!"
"It's not that... Phil! I'm gay, too!" Dan laughed.
"Y-you are!?" Phil smiled from ear to ear. Maybe he does have a chance with this boy.
With that information out of the way, things got easier for the boys around each other. They were a lot closer, too.
People actually thought they were dating but didn't say anything. Late movie nights? Holding hands under tables? Always near each other? Hugs all the time? All true. There was kind of an unspoken relationship between them.
Then prom was coming up.
They were sitting on Dan's bed, lazily talking, when Dan brought it up.
"So... do you want to go to prom with me?" Dan said, causally.
Phil stopped playing with Dan's curls. "What?"
"you heard me." Dan smiled and faced him.
"Uh.. does that make you my date?" Phil blushed.
"I guess, if you want." Dan giggled. He pulled his best friend in for a hug.
"Yes!" Phil whispered into Dan's ear.
