"Shall I play?" I questioned, as I walked towards the rusty piano.
You coyly nodded, as if our eyes met for the first time.
Clair De Lune.
From the first note played, we were in sync.
I glanced at the stars that were hung, as if by strings.
With every turn, you grew brighter.
I saw your heart as you danced
The beads of sweat from your brow beamed in color.
You painted a lovely picture - a work of art.
What feelings dug into our souls
A feeling of being unveiled
My fingers played faster, pounding on the keys.
Oh the pain bursting through my fingertips.
I winced.
The stars shivered, but not one star gave into their demise.
There were high notes, followed by low notes
But it was part of the song, so we followed its course
You moved so elegantly, with such passion.
Like you were aiming for perfection.
The last note faded across the room.
I panted,
Exhausted, I turned to face you.
My eyes searched.
It was no surprise me that you left.
I composed myself, turning back, I faced the instrument and uttered to myself
"Shall I play?" ...and began again.
Just like a story flipped to the beginning, our brief history started to replay itself.
Every time I asked, you agreed... again and again
As if you wanted this moment to be your life.
Repeatedly, I saw the spark ignite in your eyes at the sound of my remark...
"Shall I play?"

Shall I Play?
PuisiThis poem is surrounded by music, passion, and depth in song. My inspiration was from the song mentioned in the story "Clair De Lune". Enjoy!
