'Blood cancer. It's a disease which is almost impossible to cure, however, we scientists have found a way to end it, once and for all. We have made a chemical, when it is is injected into the arm, it will then circulate around the body, removing any signs of illness.'
The camera man turned to a pale man at the side of him.
'This is Paul, an unfortunate victim of blood cancer. He has agreed for us to test our new cure on him.'
He brought a syringe out of his lab coat.
'This will cure Paul and end his blood cancer for good.'
He then brought the syringe closer to his arm and injected it.
The bystanders around the two men were watching intensely.
The man, Paul, who was injected didn't look any better. In fact, he looked more pale than when he first came into the camera. His eyes darkened. His bones cracked as his limbs forced to move in an uncomfortable position. Ten seconds. Ten seconds was all it took.
'How are you feeling, Paul?' The scientist asked.
Paul looked dazed. His beady eyes were staring straight at him. Paul let out an animalistic snarl and launched himself at him, sinking his teeth into his neck, causing him to fall onto the tarmac. The watching audience went into a frenzy. Some were panicking, some yelling, some running, and some already starting their cars. The scientist was now screaming and asking for help. Paul was now feasting on his insides and soon the scientist was dead.
The TV screen showed nothing but static.
'What the fuck...' I muttered as it shut off completely.
I had just finished watching the news and rushed to the window to look out and find nothing but chaos. Our neighbourhood was usually a quite one. It was peaceful living here but when I glanced out of the window people were running back and forth, screaming or some were driving like maniacs.
At that very moment my phone rang. I grabbed it from the counter and held it close to my ear.
'Hello? Riley? We're driving to your apartment now. We're leaving.'
'Dad? Wait, leaving? Why?' I asked, astonished.
'I'm sure you saw the news.' He said, sounding like he was asking a question rather than stating it.
'Yeah?' I said, still confused.
'Well, that's why. It's more contagious than it looks Riley, and it's spreading quick.'
