The gods all looked at Percy Jackson. Their hero was silent, sitting among a field of corpses. His friends, they realized; their children. Each of the Olympians nearly fell to their knees as Percy let off waves of deep despair, but there was something else. A deep-seated anger mixed potently with the boy's misery. It poisoned the air until those around were near the point of fleeing in fear.
Then Percy moved. He shifted Nico's head from his lap and placed him gently on the ground. Poseidon could feel his control over the seas slipping from him. They raged against cliffs and caused floods around the world that in all of his glory, the god of the seas could not stop. The Earth thundered below them, stealing their balance, but the son of Poseidon stood tall. Gaea's earthly voice echoed through the camp.
You may have defeated me, but you have not won.
It was true, the gods realized. Gaea may have been defeated, but at what cost? Children that they had relied on but never showed care for lay dead, their blood seeping into the ground of the camp. In the end, the Romans and Greeks simply could not stand together.
The losses were great. 6 of the 7 were dead, and the last was so broken that they feared he could not be put back together.
The seas and ground did not calm until the son of Poseidon had fallen to the ground, exhaustion finally catching up to him. He was curled against Nico, the gods noted sadly. They saw the boy, the hero, shiver as his body met the cold, dead one of the son of Hades, of his love. For all that Perseus had done, he just continued to be tortured. Just how much of himself had Percy truly lost in his dealings with the gods?

Percy gazed around the camp with sad eyes. There were so few half-bloods left. Few Greek demigods had survived, and the only ones left from the first war were Chris Rodriguez and Clarisse who would have a nasty scar right across her face for the rest of her days. She wasn't complaining though, choosing to think of the scar as a sign that she had survived. A few Apollo kids from the Titan War had survived too. They had been working in the infirmary instead of fighting. Will Solace was the only field medic to survive.
He knew exactly how many people had died. Faces of kids that he barely knew would flash across his mind as he thought of what they'd lost. Children who should have been too young to understand the concept of war had died fighting one that wasn't even theirs. They were demigods though, obligated to protect both worlds. The thought made Percy sick. Expandable was what they truly were, thought Percy. How many of their children had to die before the gods understood that demigods were people too and deserved to live?
The gods just didn't understand, so their solution to healing Percy didn't surprise him. Percy had lost his soulmate. Without Nico Di Angelo at his side, Percy didn't really see any point to life in general. Sending him to his mother wasn't going to do much. All it would do was hurt his mother as she watched him suffer from a broken heart. All Percy had wanted was to survive the war so that he and Nico could go out and eat at a fancy restaurant or so that he could just buy the other boy flowers. They had hidden their love for each other for so long that they had only officially been together for 13 days. He had been unknowingly pushing Nico away by pretending to be with Annabeth. Who knew that escaping Tartarus would make it easier to confess to the boy he loved?
A single duffel bag lay at Percy's feet. He stood on Half-blood hill, gazing down at what the camp had become, a ruined memory. He would go home as the the gods commanded, but it wasn't for them. When he'd woken up that morning wanting some fresh air, he couldn't take a walk. His brain just felt the need to point out that over there was where Piper had fallen, Frank had been stabbed over there, and Nico had died in his arms right there. Camp served as nothing but a reminder to him now of his worst memories.
Then Argus walked up the hill, and it was time. Percy patted their guard-dragon, Peleus on the head and left with his bag in hand.

Argus dropped him off right outside of his mother's Manhattan apartment and drove off. Percy climbed the stairs, but he just waited outside of the door. That's when he heard voices. Four people, he thinks. He takes out his key and opens the door quietly. It could be monsters. Riptide was in his hand, still camped until he could analyze the threat.
He opened the door, and he was surprised to see normal people. Well, Percy wouldn't say normal.
The first was an old man in rather eccentric purple robes that had colorful moons all over them, and a matching hat. There was a twinkle in his eyes that disturbed Percy greatly. The second was a boy with red hair and heavily worn robes. He was giving Percy an almost disgusted look. Next to him sat a girl with bushy hair who reminded Percy of Annabeth. She had the same look in her eyes that screamed knowledge, Percy thought.
The last boy kind of reminded him of himself. Green eyes, messy black hair, and a look of grief and pain in his eyes. He couldn't have been much older than Percy himself, but he had a weary look much like Percy's own. He had seen death too. Someone he knew had died, likely more than one, and he felt guilty.
Instead of addressing them, Percy turned to his mother. "Hey Mom, what's going on?" Despite facing his mother, the demigod kept an eye on the strangers in his peripheral vision. His mother's appearance was haggard. Her eyes were rimmed red from unshed tears, and Percy was worried. Sally Jackson was a strong woman, and Percy had only seen her cry a handful of times in his long (by demigod standards) life.
"Well, Percy, you have to go with these people. They're going to take care of you, okay? I promise I'll see you soon." Her eyes were glossy, and she was blinking back tears. She was trying to be strong for her son. The wizards had told her about how the father that she knew wasn't her real father. Her father was apparently a wizard named Voldemort, and he was after Percy. Sally knew they weren't lying. It confirmed her suspicions on why she didn't look like her 'father'. The part about Voldemort coming after Percy wasn't far-fetched either, considering that his grandfather on his father's side had tried to kill him.
"What?" Percy was confused. He had just gotten home, and already he had to leave. Why? he wondered. Before he could question it, there was a hand on his shoulder, and the apartment disappeared.
