"Thank you, Baekhyun. Thanks for everything." I stood in front of our gates facing Baekhyun, his left hand touching my right, and the other caressing my arm (damn cast).
"You're welcome, missy. Don't forget your puppy friend." He held up the paper bag containing the stuffed animal and handed it to me. "Good night." He placed a soft kiss on my forehead.
"Good night. Thank you for everything, Baek. For always making me happy. Thank you."
"Well duh," he said with a funny face and sarcasm on his tone before poking my cheek, "isn't that what I'm supposed to do?"
"I guess so," I chuckled. "You sure you don't want to come in first?"
He shook his head. "Just say hi to Junmyeon hyung and auntie for me. Oh, and tell auntie thank you for bringing up such a gorgeous sweetie pie like you." He winked and smirked while biting his lip.
I chuckled. Cheeseball alert. "Okay."
"Good night, Minyeong. I love you."
I cupped the back of his neck and placed my lips against his, "I love you, too."
Two weeks had passed, and Baekhyun and I kept talking nonstop on the phone. Either a text or a call, a simple beep on my phone had never made me this excited. I'd talk to him all night and he'd ask me everything. What I ate for breakfast, what I had for lunch, did I eat dinner yet, what did I do the whole day, did I take my meds, did I go to my doctor's appointment, did I watch this hilarious TV program, and everything else. Sometimes he would sing me to sleep, and I would doze off with a slight curve on my face. I told him that I had my cast removed last Wednesday and how happy I was about it. Finally, my left arm was free. "Another hand to hold," he said. And of course, Baekhyun's cheesy mouth still ran even on the phone. The following night was stormy and rainy. As the thunderclap rumbled, another sweet memory came back and flashed as fast a lightning strike. I ran to my room and hurriedly dialed Baekhyun's number before plopping down on the bed.
"Baekhyun!"
"Mm?" His voice was quite hoarse. Oops, did I wake him up?
"Sorry. Were you sleeping?" I didn't realize it was already 11:43 P.M.
"Mm, it's fine." He mumbled. I could imagine him talking with his eyes still closed, and I smiled. "What is it?"
"Baekhyun, I remembered something!"
"Really? That's awesome," he answered drowsily, but his voice was still full of excitement. Cute.
"Yeah. Do you remember when it was raining one time, and I was alone in the house? I called you because I was afraid of the thunder, and then you ran up to here and saw me crying because the power went off. And then the stupid you almost got sick because you ran here without an umbrella or a hoodie or anything, and you were all drenched."
"Of course I remember that. Do you see now how sweet I am? I'll run in the middle of the stormy rain just to comfort you. And that's because I love you so much." Oh please. I rolled my eyes. Even in his sleepy state he still was a giant cheeseball.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever." He chuckled. "You know, I just realized something. I don't really care about the past anymore. I don't care if I don't remember it all. As long as I'm with you, I'll be happy forever. Because we'll be together for life, right?"
"Of course. I'll be with you forever."
