A/N: Hi guys! New-ish story. I wrote this on Tumblr about a year ago, if not more. I re-read it and wanted to continue it but thought it may get more love here. It was originally written as a Peter x reader story, but I decided to swap it over to an actual character. If there are any weird typos, it's likely from me switching the pronouns from you/your/etc to me/my/etc. Feel free to point out anything weird.

It had been the middle of the night when the Shadow came. I was plucked from my bed, before being taken into the night. Despite being scared, I didn't scream. I never screamed.
The trip felt long before I was dropped into the sand on a beach. Glancing around frantically, I tried to figure out where I was. It was some island, and it was still night. I had every reason to be terrified, but there was something... the sound of music flowing from the forest and to me. For some reason, it made me feel peaceful, happy and was drawing me to it.
I started into the forest, trying not to trip on the branches and vines as I did the best I could to locate the sound. I started to see an orange glow in front of me, the closer I got, the more I was able to see boys dancing around a fire. It was a large campsite filled with boys of various ages, but most seemed to be kids. Where were their parents?
My eyes fell on a young boy playing a pan flute, watching the boys around him. There was something about him... the power I felt radiating off him. While I was sure there were other boys older than him, he appeared to be in charge.
Timidly, I stepped closer, my approach catching the boy's attention and the music stopped. The other kids at the camp looked at me too.
"Who are you? How did you get here?" the boy with the flute asked. He had a wonderful English accent that would have normally made me swoon. When I didn't respond, only blinked at him, he rose from where he was sitting, nearing me. "Did the Shadow bring you?"
That I was able to answer, with a small nod anyway. I never spoke; honestly, I couldn't remember the last time I spoke. It had been a few years, at least.
"How did you find us? The Shadow normally drops off newcomers at the beach," he questioned, looking me over. My only way to respond was the musical instrument in his hand. "You can hear the music?" he asked, his brow raised in shock.
I nodded once more. It was so much easier to communicate with those who knew I didn't speak, but I was sure this man would figure it out soon enough.
"Who are you?" he asked once more. "Where did you come from?"
There was really no way to answer that with motions. He already knew I wasn't from this island, so pointing to the sky wouldn't do me much good. The only way kids at my school knew my name was when the teacher called on me.
The boy in front of me fidgeted, trying to figure out why I wasn't speaking. He tried a different method. "I'm Peter Pan. Most people here just call me Pan. I look after the Lost Boys," he said, motioning to the kids around him. "We've never met a Lost Girl before. If the Shadow brought you here and you can hear the flute, that's what you are - a Lost Girl. You can make a home here in Neverland," he informed me. I'd heard the stories of Peter Pan, but never thought they were real. Yet here I was, on an island full of young boys, and a shadow brought me there... Was I dreaming? No. I never dreamt anything this extreme. When I was quiet, his brow quirked again. "What's a matter? Don't you speak?" he asked.
Finally, a question I could answer. I shook my head.
This seemed to frustrate Pan. It was definitely hard to communicate with someone who never opened her mouth. "Felix!" he called, and one of the older looking boys with a large scar over his face got up and came over to us both. "I am not in the mood for a game of charades tonight. Take our new guest to the other treehouse. We'll sort something out in the morning," he ordered the man who easily towered over him. Yet Felix didn't seem bothered.
