I didn't know what love was. Apparently, what I felt every time I saw food wasn't it. So, I was determined to find it.

It was perfect. I was on a plane headed to Houston. I'd find my guy here, I've read so many stories of lovers meeting here.

Alas, I look around and take my pick. There was a mix of everything, none I was interested in.

A foot connecting to the back of my chair brought me out of my trance. My neck snaps to the perpetrator so fast it almost broke. I was going have a nice chat with this kid, nice I swear.

But I freeze. He was certainly not a child, not if child meant extremely-hot-man-boy-thing. I was still frozen midair my mouth was making a weird noise, something between a dying cat and a donkey giving birth.

"You, all right? Sorry about that, I didn't mean too." He said. I'd already forgiven him, but he didn't need to know that eh? Nah.

There was a vacant seat next to him, and I almost pinched myself as to why I hadn't seen it sooner. It was go time.

I make my was there and introduce myself.

"Mandy Mattkins, how are ya?" I said sticking my hand out for him to shake.

I waited for him to return the favor, but he never did. My hand stood suspended in the air, I just put back on my lap.

I then notice that he was still looking forward.

"Hello...?" I said hesitantly.

As if finally sensing me, he turned his head my way and smiled.

There was movement on the other side of him catching my attention. A woman no older than 40 looked at me, I mean really looked at me.

"He's—" she began before he cut her off. With his face still facing me his hand searched for hers and he gave it a quick squeeze before letting go.

"I'm good, how about you?" I'd almost forgotten what I asked him before. Brushing off what happened to the back of my head, my attention was back on him.

"I'm great now. Let's have a fascinating love story." I replied. I've been told before that I was too forward and bold, but I wouldn't let that stop me.

He didn't miss a beat. "Yes."

The silence that followed was unprecedented. How do these things go? Was I supposed to grab his hand? Tell him my whole life story? Were we to bond over our past occurrences and feel like we've known each other for ages.

Screw it.

As I move to plant a kiss on his lips the plane begins to rock, this wasn't normal turbulence. We were sinking.

Everything was a blur, with the pilot shouting and people panicking.

One thing didn't change, we never took our eyes off each other.

As we were seconds away from death, he said words to me that somehow made this all okay.

"Thank you for accepting me."
