Chapter one.
"He doesn't care, and neither should you."

KARLIE DALE was a one of a kind. She was sad. Lonely. But kind. Sweet. But only to strangers. Why? She never knew why. Maybe because strangers never knew her. And maybe because she loved not being known. Or maybe because they didn't know her true-self or her history.

Karlie never understood why her life was so...nothing. She always thought that maybe if she'd stay alive for a little bit longer than maybe she'd find her meaning. But deep down she knew that she didn't have one. But who knows? Maybe she didn't. Maybe she did.

Karlie was beautiful. She had emerald green big eyes and pink flowy hair that she bleached when she was sixteen years old. She had pale smooth skin and a thin figure that she despised. Karlie depsided herself. Her whole being. She couldn't stand herself. She hadn't knew why she ruined herself.

Karlie was the fifth oldest in her family. She had seven siblings and hated all of them. She never grew out of the i-hate-my-family phase. She knew that she didn't actually hate them. But most of the time she was with them she felt like she did.

It was a cold winter evening and Karlie sat outside of her family house, on the porch steps. Her pink hair, that was down in waves, lightly blew past her shoulders caused by the winter breeze. She had her arms folded upon her knees and was leaning slightly forward to catch more warmth. With sad eyes, Karlie silently watched the dark, blue sky and enjoyed the silence that sourounded her. It was nights like these she appreciated most.

Karlie felt most like herself when she was alone or looking up at the sky. She didn't feel happy. Her happiness she knew was long gone. But she felt at ease; at peace with herself. She knew the feeling wasn't gonna last forever, and nothing saddened her more.

"Karlie?"

It was Dylan. The man she was in love with. She never told him. What was the point? He had a girlfriend, who he had been with for five years and was very happy with. Her name was Stefanato Karlie longed to be her. Not actually her. But she longed to be in Stefani's position. And that was being with Dylan. Though, Karlie wasn't stupid. She knew well that Dylan was also in love with her. He just never admitted it. Just like her. She didn't want to ruin what her and Dylan had.

Because, all of her past relationships ended with the boy leaving her. Not the other way around. And, maybe, she would think, what if her and Dylan got together and then he'd end up leaving her just like everyone else? Everything that the two of them had been through would be for nothing. Not only would their love for each other end, but they would only move on with their lives and forget each other.

Karlie wasn't going to risk that. Not for anything. Dylan was the only person in Karlie's life that hasn't left her. Sure, every once in a while would the two get away from each other but Karlie was assured that they would find their way back to each other. They always did.

Karlie didn't bother glancing over at him. Instead, she kept her eyes glued to the sky as the gloomed expression on her face stayed. "Yeah?" Her voice wasn't sad. Her voice held no emotion, leaving Dylan clueless to what she felt at that moment.

"Come inside." She heard him say from behind her. He wasn't ordering her. It wasn't a command. But Karlie felt as if he was telling her what to do. And what did the pink-head hate the most? Being told what to do.
