Cadence swept across the dance floor like an angel, she knew that this was the night she had been waiting 16 years for, this was the night to break the curse.
Cadence's curse is one that was not her fault, but the fault of her mother, who stole a man from another. This scorned woman came to the house after Cadence's mother had given birth to her and she placed a curse on Cadence, that she would be unable to leave her house, except for on the eve of her 16th birthday, when she would have to find her true love before sunrise of the next day to break the curse with a kiss, or end up forever stuck, alone, and cursed.
For 16 years Cadence's mother taught her how to be pretty and how to make men love you so that she would be ready for the one night that could change her life. Her hours were spent learning how to dance, and converse, how to flirt and draw a mans attention from across the room, but most importantly she learned how to be anyone but herself, which is what her mother thought she needed to make a man fall in love with her daughter in one night. Never though did Cadence's mother seem to care about her daughter or what she wanted, which made Cadence hate her mother, and want to break the curse just to escape her.
The day before her night of freedom Cadence was sitting alone in her room crying, praying that she would be able to break her curse and find her true love so she would not be stuck forever with her mother, when suddenly a woman appeared in her room dresses in shimmering gowns who said to her, "My dear, dry your eyes. I am here to aid you in breaking your curse." Cadence looked up at the woman and said to her, "How can you help me when i do not know how to help myself." The strange woman looked to her and smiled, "Well, I can give you a makeover for the ball you are going to to find your true love tonight." And with that Cadence saw some hope.
Cadence left her home, taking her first step ever over the threshold, and she was off to the ball to find her true love. All of a sudden music begins and she gets swept into a dance, being pulled into the arms of a random man. Once that dance is finished, with that man obviously not being her true love she begins to dance, hoping to stumble upon her true love. As one dance turns into another, Cadence begins to lose hope, when a stunning young man appears before her and asks her to dance. As they dance they talk and Cadence can feel herself falling for him.
The night wore on and the two were on the balcony, the man leaned in and kissed Cadence, nothing happened. Her one night wasted.
