Chapter Sixteen

Niall's POV

I. Fucked. Up. 

How could I be such an idiot? I just let her walk out. I let her walk out right out from under me.

I'd tried calling her, twelve times in the past five minutes. I don't know why she wasn't answering.. Wait, yes I did. I'm a fucking twat. I knew she wasn't going to answer me, but that doesn't mean she couldn't have been with someone else. I called Liam, no answer. I called Harry, no answer. Louis was the only one that did answer.

"Hey mate, it's been a long time. How ya been?"

"Pretty horrible. Umm, have you seen Elizabeth today?"

"I can't say that I have. Hey, is everything alright? You sound kind of stressed."

"I'm fine. Is Liam with you?"

"Yeah. Liam, have you seen Elizabeth?" He shouted. "Nope, Liam hasn't seen her."

"Shit." I sighed, "Ask Harry?"

"Haz, babe.. Have you seen Elizabeth?"

There was a pause.

"No, Harold hasn't seen her either."

"Fuck. Okay."

"Can I ask what happened?"

"We got in a fight and I can't find her anywhere."

"Alright, well.. We'll be on the look out. I'll call you if we see her."

"Okay. Thanks Lou."

"Don't mention it.. Hey, and when you do find her, we need to hang out."

"I'll see you around."

There's only two places she would've gone, the meadow or her house. Knowing her, she'd go to the meadow before she'd go home.. Just in case something went wrong. So that's where I was going to go. I left a note for my parents in case they got back before we did. 

I put on a pair of shoes and slid my phone in my pocket. I decided to go to her house before walking to the meadow. As I walked out of my house, I saw a car in her driveway. I was confused until I recognized it.. It was her step-dad's. I ran to the door and knocked rather quickly on it.

"What the fuck are you doing here?" His words were slurred.

"Where is she?"

"Who?"

I rolled my eyes, "Elizabeth."

"Oh, I haven't seen her."

"What do you mean?"

"I take that back, I saw her run down the street, but she hasn't been back. Why do you need to know, dipshit? Shouldn't you know where she is? Apparently, she's your property now."

"Let me stop you right there.. She isn't property. She isn't a thing. She is the best human being I've met and you need to fucking realize that. You ruined her life."

"Don't tell me what I've done wrong, kid. I didn't even want her.. I loved her mum, not her."

"You didn't have to fucking abuse her!" I shouted.

A woman appeared in the hallway, "Jonathan, what does he mean abuse her?"

"Nothi-"

I interrupted him, "Physically and verbally abused her."

"What?"

"I told you I didn't like her." He defended himself.

"We could find another place.. If that's the case, we didn't have to come all the way back here to get her." The lady's voice was getting louder.

He slammed the door and started yelling about Brighton and Elizabeth. I couldn't process it. To get her. What does that mean? I left the house and walked to the meadow.

As I made my way there, I couldn't help but wonder what she was running from. Did she see him? Did he try to hurt her? Was she having thoughts?

"Oh god." I said aloud.

I started running as fast as I could. So many thoughts were racing through my mind. I couldn't wrap my senses around why she would do anything but then it hit me.. It's all his fault.

My heart sank when I finally got to the meadow. I saw Elizabeth laying on the ground. I ran to her.

"Elizabeth, babe.. Wake up."

Nothing.

"Princess, please.. Wake up," I kneeled down beside her and held her.

I started crying, there was no stopping it.

"Ni?"

Her voice was the sweetest thing I could hear in that moment.

"Yes, Liz. It's me. I'm right here." I kissed her forehead.

"He's back."

"I know, love."

I rocked her back and forth. I kept kissing her forehead over and over, thinking that it would make everything better.

"You're not going anywhere. You're gonna stay right here with me. Forever."
