"I demand an explanation, kid." The Wolverine, was pacing up and down the small passage of the hallway.
A few X-men, along with the professor, left for a rescue mission, to look for rogue after she was suspectedly captured by the hands of a sly thief; Gambit.
"Why didn't you want me to touch him rogue? You promised me some answers," Wolverine growled under his breath and folded his arms then sighed, as he leaned back on the wall, staring at a quiet and nervous rogue.
"He just did the wrong thing for the right reasons, Logan," she started, finally looking up," give him a chance, it's not like I went willingly. He napped me right in the alley on my way to school, I didn't see it coming, and the next thing I knew, we were on some train heading for Louisiana,"
"Hmmmm," wolverine eyed her.
"What?" She shot back," I'm telling the truth!"
"Doesn't seem that way to me," he refused to cooperate.
"Look Logan, I know how it looked, but I'd never do that to the professor," she pleaded, her voice broken.
"Not to mention Kurt, poor kid thinks you're his only friend" wolverine continued.
"I know I've been complainin' about my past lately, but you know I'd never turn my back on you guys, Logan. Gambit saw the opportunity to manipulate me in his own way, using that against me. But the guy was only trying to save his dad, I had to help him. It was my second chance," she dug her feet through the carpet and tensed, sighing and pursing her lip sporadically.
Logan sighed and shuffled a bit, balancing his weight. There was a hummed silence surrounding them. He decided to drop the matter.
"Don't beat yourself up for whatever happened kid, get some sleep," he hurried her off to bed.
"Thanks....I guess," she looked down. Logan's footsteps were monotonous, escaping down the rest of the hallway and disappearing completely around the bend. No one else questioned rogue's disappearance, they were all just happy to have her back after the stressful search.
Later that night, she sobbed quietly in her room, the night was dark and windy. She drew out the queen of hearts, that Gambit gave her and ran her fingers over it, absorbing it's texture.
The memory of his face flashed to her mind, automatically.
Her tears ran from her eyes, slowly, and she squeezed them shut, and pressed the card to her chest.
Her windows flew open, inviting the night's cold wind to cool the warm room; they were banging ever so harshly. Rogue felt the chill of outside and reluctantly sauntered over to close the windows shut.
She reached up for the edges, and brought them forward.
"Tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk. My my rogue, you look so beautiful when you cry," said a lonely, sure, voice in the deep dark corner of rogue's room.
There was an ominous pause. She stood still at her position, not daring to turn around.
"Gambit?" She whispered. He emerged from the dark.
"Hello, rogue," his smile was small and tired.
She turned around slowly to face him. He was by the end of her bed, meters away from her.
"Hey Gambit....h-how's it goin?" She ran an elbow over her cheek, in an attempt to start drying the tears.
"I've been watching you rogue, what's wrong with ya' darlin. You've been ballin' your eyes out" he stepped a bit closer.
"Nothin'." She folded her arms and looked down.
"It's okay, you don't have to-
"Why'd you come here tonight?" She interrupted him.
He smiled and sat on the bed. For the first time that night, rogue actually saw what he was wearing; normal attire. A white t shirt and jeans ripped at the knees.
"I care about you, rogue," he stated at her," I know I ain't no gentleman, rogue, but just give me a chance doll. I could really make you happy." He got up to hold her hand.
"Gambit," she whispered.
He pulled her in his chest aggressively and smashed their lips together. He held onto her waist and brought his other hand to her cheek.
She was taken by surprise, never had she thought that she'd be in love with a villain. Especially Gambit. She kissed him back, holding onto his shirt.
He pulled away slowly, and gave her a small smile," it's alright baby doll, daddy's got you," he hugged her, while she sobbed quietly in his chest.
"You'll be alright," he kissed her head.
