prologue

In a faraway land, where the grass wasn't green but the air wasn't always ominous, I saw the beauty in all the settings that endured our hatred. but right now, the grass has never been greener. I picked up a phone and started searching for her name on the screen. we were finally ready to be together. I found her name and tapped on it to call her. she answered, "hello?"
"konichiwa! how are you doing?"
"oh, Caleb! I'm doing good!"
"that's Claeb to you. but anyway, I wanted to meet up with you, at that empty grass field that I was talking about. shall we?" I felt an anxious pain in my gut; I felt like she would say no.
"sure!"
"oh, thank god!"
"huh?"
"nothing!"

at the empty grass field the sky was an endless pit of blue, and the moon was as lustrous as any metal could ever be. we sat on the grass hand in hand we had no idea of what would happen later... the idea of being together with her finally
then i lost myself in a thought that suddenly appeared in my head. "if only we could truly be happy for once." i whispered to myself
"huh? what do you mean?"
i stared bleakly at the sky, and reached my hand out the sky. " it's so close I can almost feel it. i just don't know how to get there..."
"Caleb, what are you talking about?"
"huh? W-what's going on!?" I stuttered, getting a hold of reality again.
"Caleb, you were muttering something about us not being able to be truly happy? What's wrong...?"
"mmm..... fine. just please don't tell anyone because nobody will believe you; you will sound crazy... but anyway, *sigh*, I'm sort of..." I put my hands behind my head and look off into nothing, "I'm not quite myself..."
"what do you mean Caleb?" she said with a worried face.
i looked up at the empty blue sky, "if only I could be myself." I stood up and reached out to the sky once more and as everything slowly faded away, I saw myself falling and soon enough everything was dark and empty.

what stood before me seemed like endless memories that I had forgotten, everything stood before me from the greatest video games being played, to near death experiences. I remembered everything, all those empty memories that I tried to refill.
I fall down to my knees and covered my face, "where have i been all this time!!!"

"Caleb! are you okay?" she was covered in tears.
"Madison..." I put my hand on the side if her face.
she pulled me up and squeezed her arms around me " what happened!?"
" all this time... gone... wasted..."
" Caleb tell me now! what do you mean?!"
" all these memories I've tried to refill... all the time I could have... Madison," I put my hand on my forehead, " I need to lay down I gently layed my head on the ground. Madison repeated me, " I would really like to know what's going on..."
" I don't even know what's going on. my head hurts all of a sudden, all these thoughts... I just saw all my memories at once I feel like it's really important, like I need it now... I don't know but I feel i need to... fall asleep... i... love you..." my eyes gently shut and in a split second, I fell into the depts of my thoughts.

when I first looked up, I saw something that looked awfully familiar... it had cat ears and whiskers, no limbs except for what might be hands, weird spherical things all around him of all colors and sizes... i think it might be from... the scene spontaneously changed I saw shadows lurking everywhere, i had a sword in hand and Madison was right beside me, and shadows started popping out of what I thought were shadows, but was darkness. Madison leaped upwards and started fighting like a bad ass. and then I noticed, there more people were fighting on what seemed to be a battle field. and by the time I saw every thing, I noticed that the shadows were gaining in in everything and everyone, and as soon as it hit something, it would vanish into some kind of dust immediately. it slowly crept up on me, and instead of quickly disappearing, I was slowly devoured, every piece of me filled with pain, until I was completely swallowed by the shadows, and there was nothing. and I saw his face again, and then I realized... a new world has been awakened.

I opened my eyes to see Madison sleeping right next to me. I thought about the emptiness enveloping me. "wait... madison was there!" I screamed in my head I took a deep breath. and tried to calm myself, but I kept picturing an image of Madison drowning in the darkness. then Madison woke up. and saw me then turned beet red when she saw her hands around me, but held on even tighter. she could sense I was upset.
"Caleb, are you feeling okay... um... I mean... is anything upsetting you?" she blushed even more
"*sigh*... yes... too many things are."
"would you tell me any of them? or are you going to just stutter your way out of this?"
"c'mon, please don't be upset about that... I just don't know how to explain this..." I put my arms around her, "but I won't ever let you go."we had a long pause but we eventually shifted ourselves to look at the bottomless sky that was now flaked with stars and a moon, and kept an arm around each other. we gazed at the star sprinkled sky for a moment and a strange recognizable figure flew past us. and then I realized. i knew what it was finally.
"Madison, we have to go, now."
"why? you plan this out for over a month, and now you're forcing us to go back?!"
"Madison, this is not the time to argue, this is serious! something is terribly wrong!"
" I thought you didn't know what was wrong! are you lying!?"
" Madison, I will explain later, just come on!"

it took us an hour to run back home, and when we got inside I then explained to Madison, " so what I saw in my dream was what flew past us and what flew past us was a part of..." I pulled a game cartridge and a console for it, "this."
"that's not a 3DS cartridge is it?"
"no I made these, there's something wrong with this. let's turn it on and see." I put the cartridge in the console and turned it on. a light flashed on the screen for a second but then instantaneously dimmed.
"that's weird but..."
"what's going on? I don't umdersta-" and in a flash if light, all of everything swirled, twisted, and faded... and what awaited us was a brand new world, where fiction, was reality, dimensions were twisted, beauty and feelings were over-made... welcome to the world of a video game!
