She sighed then placed a hand on her daughter's shoulder. She only wished the best for her daughter.

"Naailah, my daughter, listen to your mother please. One day you will have to get married, you have will to learn how to carry out house chores, and you will have to also learn how to cook. Life is not only for amusement."

Naailah huffed, why did the 'M' word always have to be brought up in every conversation? She was beginning to despise that word now.

She cocked her head to the side, the corners of her delicate pink lips tilted upwards.

"Mother dear, let me atleast play a little now please. When I get married then I will be cooking and doing house chores all day and all night."

Her mother smacked her head.

This girl would never learn!

"Hey girl ! I don't want you to be like that girl who got married and doesn't even know how to hang wet clothes."

At this Naailah giggled, but before she could reply, Waleed entered from the front door.

He beamed when he heard the scolding his beloved daughter was getting from her mother.

He winked at Naailah, who grinned in return.

She knew her father would save her from her mother's endless lectures.

"Oh  my dear wife, leave my beloved daughter alone, why are you always scolding her?"

Sakina huffed, then pivoted on her heel, walking towards the kitchen in angry strides.

She muttered incoherent words under her breath, as she warmed up the food for her husband.

Father and daughter silently shook with laughter.

Naailah walked towards her father, she pecked his cheek, then grabbed his briefcase from his hand.

Smiling, he lovingly patted her head, his eyes shone with pride and affection as he leaned down to plant a kiss on her forehead.

"How are you my beautiful daughter?"

She beamed.
"Thanks to Allah, I am perfectly well. How about you my beloved father?"

"Praise be to Allah, excellent."

Just then Hamna appeared from behind the stair case, her eyes shone with mischief as she pouted at her father.

"Abu jee, mujhe bhul gaye kya?"
(Beloved father, have you forgotten about me?"

He chuckled, embracing his little daughter who often got jealous when he showered Naailah with extra affection.

He couldn't help it, she was already twenty one, soon she would be married and living her own life, she was merely a guest in this house.

The thought saddened him.

He hugged Hamna, then stepped back.
