Eric is 4 years old and Simon just ended the filming of Brian Got Talent, it been 3 month since he spend time with Lauren, and to be honest he is happy she is away in new York with Adam since the start of the year.
It will be five years of his relationship with Lauren in May, but it feels so empty, so flat, it not he didn't tried to love her more then just as his son's mother, he tried, bilut it just doesn't work, she isn't exciting him, makes him wants her more every time she is around or even understand his language, as simple as it it... She doesn't get him.in anyway.
In the first year in the relationship, he still was deep in finding him interested daddy then trying building his relationship, in 2015, when Eric turned 1 Simon tried to get close to Lauren, but he felt like she is too much in love with the paps attantion and hated it and to be honest sex wasn't good enough for him to fight for the relationship.
In 2016 everything was even harder, American Idol on FOX came to an end and it made Simon remembers everything and made all his undone fellings come back, he still often asked himself "what if Paula and I would go with our feelings and give us a go?", The public probably thinks they just "almost" slept together but they were more, they were almost lovers, almost each other better half, almost merrid couple, why almost? Because they acted like that but he never had the courage to tell her his true feelings, yes they dated but not really because his pr team didn't want her around.
And then the finale of Idol came and Simon want there, not for the producers, not for the viewers or the saula fans, he want there just to see Paula's surprised happy smile, he didn't care that Randey didn't was judge that season and he didn't care Ryan "lost" his show, he just cared to hold Paula again even if it was for lass then 10 minutes before they go back to their seperate ways because his team doesn't want her around.
Simon huger Paula in the stage and when they want to Ryan dreassing room to have small talk before he needs to leave.
This talk didn't last long to Simon disamy, Paula felt how Lauren hates the way Simon acts around Paula, and Paula can't blame her Simon definitely held into her all the while they walked to the dressing room and while they talked like Lauren wasn't there, AT ALL.
After what Lauren witnessed, she was pissed of and Simon didn't hold back and told her how he felt in that situation, he didn't care that the paps took pictures of them fighting in public,bhe actually hoped it would help him to end this relationship and maybe make Paula join him on The X Factor after 5 years they didn't work together, but it didn't work.
Then came the AGT finale, he didn't even dare to dream Paula would come there, and then the magic happened, he felt like the colours came back to his life, everyone disappeared and her smile flashed to him from the stage.
Her segment was by far the happiest moment he had on the Got Talent format, when it ended it wasn't 5 seconds till he held Paula as tight as he could, he didn't care the people at the venue saw them, he didn't cared the people watching at home watched and specially he didn't cared Lauren watched, Paula on the other hand noticed Lauren stare at them, but she took him to Hawie dressing room anyway, she needed to see how he is, and she quickly learn he was sad and lonely...just like her, cause it doesn't matter how she tries to fake she is happy when they are alone all the feeling she knows she must forget about came back in full power.
Paula made Simon and herself promise they will give Eric the most healthy family he could have even if it means she is the one that need to stop to be around.
They kissed and Lauren watched them, watch them closely and wonder why Simon is totally in it, it seams almost like they are a married couple that were away for too long according to them, she never saw Simon kisses someone like that, he never kissed her like that.
It was the last time Simon heard from Paula till his mum passed away, wheb it happened, Simon's pr team banned Paula from coming so Simon spent all that night with Paula on the phone, it seems she is the only one Simon really opened himself to, Lauren couldn't believe Paula was the first he called, he didn't even thought to call his siblings or Sinitta, it wasn't one minute after Julie left that she heard Paula's name.
In 2017, Simon and Paula didn't interact too much, just a one phone call every month, but when he talked with her it was like a role you wouldn't dare to break, when Paula calls no one and by no one that means not even Eric can't intrupt.
When Lauren and Simon watched Paula interview before her tour and she denied Saula ever happened, Lauren saw how Simon's face fall, he told Lauren that she needs to be shame on herself because she made the best moments in his life to be bad things, he told Lauren that she is the reason he lost everything he cared for in his life and he wasn't completely wrong.
Lauren was the reason people saw him as jerk that broke the friends code by knonk her and get her pregnant, she was the reason he lost his creative mind because he couldn't have Paula around him, he lost many artist because he let go of his presents of his company and most of all Lauren was the reason he couldn't have Paula around.
Simon feels ity time for him to end it, end the fake relationship with Lauren, end the lie he tires to make people believe in, end the gap between him and Paula and hopefully live the life he wants with her, the live he needs.
Paula's mom passed away and Simon wanted to be there for her but she told him it ok, she felt like he was there, but he needed to be there, he needed to held her to let her cry, he knew she needs it cause she doesn't feel free to cry in front of all the family.
