The colour red was always dull before him.
Silent and sneaky, weaving in and out of focus
But then he entered your life and suddenly
The colour red was dripping off his skin
Seeping into the very fabric of the universe
And filling your world with a new shade of life.

The colour red means love and passion.
Love and passion mean a swelling romance
Creating a happiness and filling the world
With pinks and oranges and purples and
Adding new shades and hues of joy to
A world already bubbling with new life.

The colour red means anger and frustration.
Anger and frustration mean arguments
And arguments turn into fights that
Leave people wondering what's going to
Come of it when they wake up the
Next morning to each other in the sun.

The colour red fades into pain and uncertainty.
Pain and uncertainty mean questions
And questions lead to a fear of the
Unknown parts of the world where
Love and passion and anger and frustration
Can break a relationship into pieces of glass.

The colour red is slowly disappearing
From view as quickly as water
Drains from your hands as
You hold them under the running
Water coming out of the sink
Faucet when you wash him off your skin.

The colour red vanishes from sight
As you curl up in bed watching the
Pinks and oranges and purples become
Whites and yellows and blues and
You watch it happen through blurry
Eyes and wet trails down your cheeks.
