Amethyst

I woke up, sweating. I looked at my clock, it was 12:57 a.m., on Saturday. I rolled over to see one of my friends from school, Zach, standing in my window trying to wake me up. I was on the second floor and wondered how he got up here, my house was made of brick. He was waving for me to come outside. I opened my window and said, "Zach, what are you doing?? It's 12:57 in the morning." He replied, "It is time, follow me to the preserve. Use the porch poles to get down. You'll figure the way to the den pretty soon." I got up and asked, "Do I need to drive?" He answered, "No, we will walk. It isn't that far." I put on some comfortable basketball shorts and an old practice jersey. I got onto my roof, and used the porch poles to get down. I walked with Zach, going towards the front of my neighborhood. I asked, "How far are we going in?" He said, "A mile and a half, maybe two." We got to the entrance of my neighborhood and I saw the "Middle Creek Falls" name engraved into the sign. We kept walking from there towards the preserve.

We got to the preserve and Zach walked in without hesitation. I followed and walked faster to keep with his pace, about 20 minutes went by and I saw a small fire in the middle of some trees. It was probably 50 meters away. I saw the leader, Alex Rendarium, standing with a couple people around him. We walked up and Alex said, "Welcome, Elijah Dentrickson. Are you ready for this?" I responded, "Of course I am, after I found out about this, I wanted nothing more." We both smiled at each other. One of the other members of the group walked up with a backpack, Alex said his name was Derek. He pulled out some athletic tape, gauze, and a towel. Derek handed me the towel and told me to bite down on it. I bit the towel and Alex walked over beside me. He said, "Are you ready? This is going to hurt a lot." I responded, "Yes, I am ready. Start when you're ready." I watched as his teeth became sharper, his canines grew taller and his teeth became more squared. He smiled at me with his canine teeth, counted down from 3. "3....2......1......" He said. after 1 I got vigorous pain in my right arm, I felt blood pour out into Alex's mouth. I screamed into the towel. Alex let go of my arm and it started bleeding even more. Derek wrapped the gauze around the bite and taped my arm. He said, "Welcome to the pack, Elijah." I responded, "Thank you" still wincing at the pain from my arm. Alex wiped his mouth after swallowing the blood saliva mix after biting me. He said, "You're one of us now." smiling wryly, I said, "Not much has changed that I can feel." He responded, "Give it a day or two, the full moon is on Friday, the day after school starts. School starts on Thursday, 6 days from now, which will give you some time to adjust to your newfound abilities, strength, speed, and your senses." I said, "How long will it be before I will be able to change?" Alex said, "It usually takes around 3 days or less." I said "Well I will try to be here nightly until I can change, but until then I need to get home before my mom figures out I'm not in bed." Alex responded, "Alright man, I'll see you tomorrow night." I said goodbye and I headed towards the direction we came from, I pulled out my phone and looked at the time. It read 4:57AM, Saturday, I kept walking and I saw street lights and the preserve sign. I got to the entrance to the preserve and started towards my neighborhood, it was about 1/2 a mile away.

I climbed back up the poles on the porch, opened my window jumped into my room. I turned on the light and took the gauze off my arm. It was covered in blood, I threw it away and took the first aid kit out of my bathroom. The bite had already started to heal, the blood in the bite was starting to scab over. I wrapped it in new gauze and taped it, I put a waterproof bandage over the bite and took a shower. The gauze lifted and some water got into the bite, which caused a burning sensation throughout my arm. I finished my shower, got dry, and put some sleeping clothes on. I laid in bed and relaxed, I thought about what happened tonight. I am going to change, I'll be stronger, faster, more powerful than anyone at school, I can hear everyone, see everything, smell everything, feel every movement, I am going to be better than I've ever been. I closed my eyes and fell asleep, dreaming about school next week.
