Long flowing maroon hair, vivid bright green eyes, perfect slender figure and mile long legs. I would never be that, I would never be the person that people thought of when they thought of beauty. Not anymore at least.

The girls eyes flickered to mine and immediate horror consumed her face. Yanking on my hood, I looked away and downed the rest of the hot liquid in my hand. It burned its way down my throat and made my facial expression twist up in a grimace.

Walking out the door I still felt the girls eyes on me. Drilling their way into the back of my head. Gripping my arms I hurried down the road. I should be use to peoples reactions of me, I really should. Yet everytime I went out and I noticed someones reaction it killed me a little.

I ripped my moms apartment door open and closed it carefully. "Hey pretty lady,"my mothers soft voice flittered through my ears,"I finished unpacking." Eyes watering in resignation as I realized what this meant, I walked into the tiny kitchen.

It was sparkly clean, and neat. My mother sat on the countertop, reading a batman comic, swinging her short porcelain legs in front of her. Her wavy light brown shoulder length hair was pinned in a low bun. She glanced up at me with her loving amber eyes and smiled. "I was thinking about baking some batman inspired cookies, would you want one?"

I smiled forcing my pain away. "Of course, but they better have blue icing." Her laugh bounced of the newly painted mint green walls as she stood up. "I would have it no other way."

A small quiet laugh escaped my lips, and I couldn't help but noticed the brilliant smile that formed on my mothers face. "Go take a shower love, I can handle a little flour." I nodded my head a little relunticly.

I skimmed my eyes over my surroundings as I left the kitchen. The living room was small and cozy with a black couch and multi colored pillows everywhere. Our room was the only other occupying space except for the bathroom. The room had two beds, a dresser, and no walking space. The last room, the bathroom was the one I dreaded.

Opening the seemingly non hostile door to the bathroom I let out a small relived breath. No mirror. There was no mirror. A small surge of joy flickered through me as I took of my clothes and started the shower.

Warm water cascaded down my shoulders as I washed my skin. The smell of mint and chocolate wafted through the air as I dried off. Pulling on a pair of black sweats and a light blue top I headed back into the kitchen.

My mother had just pulled out the bright blue batman cookies, as I entered the room. She gave me a bright smile and grabbed a strand of my dark curly hair. "You should were it up more, it shows off your beautiful eyes." I looked at the ground and shrugged. Maybe I would've, if only the left side of my face wasn't so hideously scarred.
