The birds chirped merrily outside of Jada's room window as the sun finally broke through the veil of night. The 17 year old always slept with the window cracked to let the cool summer breeze counter the suffocating stuffiness that always encompassed her bedroom. Not soon after her eyes peeled themselves open the intoxicating aroma of breakfast being prepared by her loving yet slightly eccentric mother woke her from her morning daze and she quickly slid from beneath the velvety sheets that adorned her bed before stepping into her favorite pair of bed shoes. As she made her way downstairs to the kitchen she heard her two younger siblings arguing about which pancake they would receive once the meal was done. "I want the big pancake!" They shouted back and forth to each other and Jada rolled her honey brown eyes at the duo before taking her place at the table. "About time you could make it my mahogany beauty." Her dad states with a smug grin plastered on his pale face which was gradually becoming weathered with age. "Stop calling me that Dad. It sounds really creepy." I gave a fake sigh of exasperation as I plopped down as gracefully as my uncoordinated limbs would allow. "What's wrong with me calling you a beauty?" He laughed to himself as mama began dishing out plates of warm pancakes and crispy bacon. "Its embarrassing dad." Jada groaned as she reached across the table for the bottle of maple syrup. She lathered her pancakes in the sweet thick liquid and quickly crammed her mouth full of the delicious delicacy. "Mmmmhhhhmmm! You've done it again Ashley!" Her dad hollered before bringing his hand down to smack mamas ass as she passed him on the way back to the stove and as if we had rehearsed it ahead of time me and my two sibling moaned in utter disgust. "Really dad?! At the table?" Jada exclaimed as she swallowed the last bite of her meal and stood from the table. "No class.." she muttered as she walked away, rolling her eyes as the entire table laughed at her retreat. She took the stairs two at a time as she hurried to her room. The time on her phone said 7:47 and her classes start at 8:15. With this knowledge Jada practically teleported into her walk in closet and browsed frantically through her vast array of clothing. Being adopted by a loving pair of rich white people had to be the luckiest thing that ever happened to the African American girl. She had seen the unsavory lifestyle that those who shared her dark skin lived and as harsh as it may sound she was glad to be spared from the same fate. After a while of searching she settled on a silk black turtleneck and a plaid skirt with a rhinestone encrusted waist belt to add a bit of "dazzle" to her attire. She then plopped down on her bed and slid a pair of fish net stocking over her smooth chocolate legs before making her way over to her vanity. Jada was well aware of her appearance of course. Her sharp cheekbones and her light brown eyes which contrasted amazingly with her mocha skin along with the fullness of her supple lips often turned heads. Sometimes she would encounter the occasional racist and even they would falter in the midst of their insult as they took in the sharp beauty of her "nigger face". Jada would only laugh in situations like these, never being able to understand the motive behind racism. After the 17 year old had fixed her hair ,which was naturally curly and fell right below her shoulder, she stepped into a pair of heeled combat boots that went great with her outfit and paused to retrieve her purse and her phone charger before heading towards her car. Once again she took the stairs two at a time as she hurried to her towards the foyer a groan slipping free from her lips as both of her parents blocked the doorway from her. "Not so fast." Her dad states with a huge creepy grin that matched the one her mother had plastered on her face. "Aren't you forgetting something?" She asked as they both took a step towards Jada. "Nope. I got my keys , purse and my phone." She showed them each item as she stated them and took a step backwards in anticipation for what was to come. And as if a switch had went off in their heads each of them pounced on her, smothering her face with sloppy wet kisses. "STOP!" Jada screamed in the midst of the assault, her eyes bulging to the point where she thought they would leap free from her skull. She thrashed and tried her hardest to break free of their embrace but her dad held her steady as they continued the assault. "I hate you both." Jada states calmly once the ordeal was over and she was given the chance to gather herself. "I'm almost 18 now. Far to old for smooch attacks." She murmured as she brushed past her parents who were both smiling like two preteens that had just pulled the best prank ever. She huffed as she took a seat in her 2018 black Altima, the keys finding the ignition almost immediately before she backed out and sped off towards BHS. As she drove she shot a quick text to her best friend Kevin begging him to meet her in the parking lot.
Be there in 5. Meet me in the parking lot skank. PLEASE! :)
She pressed send and looked up at the exact moment another vehicle slammed into the side of her car, sending her Altima reeling out of control and into the trunk of a tree. The impact from the crash sent Jada flying through the windshield to land at least 15 feet away from her totaled car. The 17 year old girl lay there in silent agony as her body felt as if it was shutting down permanently. "This is it then." Jada thought to herself as her vision began to fade and she finally slipped into a comfortable peacefulness.
