With the hitting of the period key on his custom touchscreen keyboard, the tear that hung from Xander's recently shaved chin hits the forest floor below. Moments later, his torch goes out. He is covered with a green glow and the entire forest follows suit. A revitalizing breeze gently lifts Xander from the ground, lovingly wipes his tears away, and blows through the trees and pushes away the suffocating fog, allowing sunlight to seep through into the forest through the dancing leaves of the trees. A familiar, comforting voice whispers into his ear through the wind. He immediately forgot what it said, but the voice felt... maternal. He felt a bit more confident in his journey.

As the gale lowers Xander just as gently as he was lifted, the ancient voice spoke again and the orb floated toward and into his chest. The green aura flourishes, then fades.

"Go forth, Hero," the voice echoed, "and save our domain."

That same sound as before is heard again. But this time, louder. And closer. Something fast lunges past Xander with claws. His phone and now unlit torch are consumed by a green light. They change shape, then push the light off as what seems like an energy wave. The phone and torch have turned into a shield and sword respectively. Xander nodded in understanding. His irises change from their normal dark brown to a vibrant glowing green. His attacker swoops in again, but the claws bounce off of his shield. Time seems to briefly slow. He can see through attacker's blinding speed. He's detecting an orange aura behind the dark cloak that attacks him.

'Another person? Maybe they're a trained assassin? But why attack me?!'

The attacker jumps back into the trees. A sight fills Xander with dread. The assassin's aura turns into something-

...

fire.

The blazing flame engulfs the claws that already move like lightning. They're scraping against the soft grass and gently swaying trees. Xander hears them crying out in agony in bitter dissonance with the now panicked bird song. His eyes lose their green glow and turn dark brown again as they well up in anger. The left side of his face is scraped by a claw that seems to have come out of nowhere, but in this, he sees opportunity. He swings his shield behind him, correctly, guessing at where the next attack would come from. He hits the assassin's claw and brings them spiraling to the ground. He pins them with his shield and makes a demand:

"Call your fire back. The plants are suffering."

"... fine."

The feminine voice of the assassin complies begrudgingly. The cloak changes in an orange light into a Steven Universe hoodie- red with a yellow star on the front. The light itself focuses into a rectangular shape. A book...? A sketchbook. It plops down next to the assassin. Next to go is her claws. They, too, change in an orange light into pens, pencils, and color pencils between her fingers like a second grader pretending to be Wolverine.

With the claws, much to Xander's relief, goes the fire. A gentle breeze of that same relief sweeps through the forest. The birds return to a happy melody, to which the trees and leaves dance as the grass instead shyly shimmies in place below, basking in the shreds of sunlight.

Another entry appears on Xander's phone-- one he didn't type.
