Lost in the Ocean of Memories

I don't know why, somehow that all countries thought this was a good idea. I mean, I know we are hungry and all, but does it really have to come down to throwing a bunch of innocent lives into an arena of inescapable death.

My thoughts were stopped by a screaming Megan. Megan is only 12 and when she heard about the whole killing game thing, whatever it is. I cant believe Canada actually agreed to this. I rushed to her room, only to find her curled up into a ball. I hugged her, comfort her. But I know I can't save her from getting chosen. Even I was scared, this was the first Games and I definitely, didn't want to die in front of all the world.

You see, when the Arctic melted, it swallowed almost all of the Northern Hemisphere. Unfortunately, Canada was fairly to close and it swallowed most of it, only leaving 20% of the country. I still remember it like it yesterday.

I was screaming at my dad and my brother, John, to get on the ship to Newfoundland. Unfortunately, only two people can go on since the ship was already too full. My dad and my brother decided to give their seats to a woman and a boy around my age. I still remember my dad telling me to keep them alive and well, my brother hugged me tightly, kissed my forehead, and looked at me . "I know I was annoying", he said with sigh, " but as a brother, its my job. I do it because I love you Taylor, never forget that".
I pleaded him to get in the ship but there was no room. Waves were crashing like mountains and we knew we had to go. They went back to the port. I looked at my dad, who gave me an approving nod and then to my brother, who eyes were with pain and sadness as he looked at me.
As soon as the ship left, a huge wave came crashing down at the port where my dad and brother were standing, and I knew that they were gone.
