Eadlyn's POV:
I stare down at the hole with fear, looking at my hands with a mixture of horror and awe. This can't be normal. I know that it is usual for other magical children to have bursts of uncontrolled magic, but it is obvious by now that whatever is going on with me is not usual. I take out my wand; an attractive Silver Lime wood wand with a Dragon heartstring core. Surveying the wall, I soon realise that it will take more than a simple repairing spell to fix the damage.
"Eady, time for dinner," a familiar voice calls out. I gasp and rush downstairs to my sister, leaping into Dora's arms and engulfing her in a hug. My sister hugs me back, running her hands through my hair. I pull away and look up at her, checking to see what her hair currently looks like. Bubble-gum pink as usual, but this time short and curly, framing her face nicely - definitely better than the green she once came home with!
"It's so great to see you again," I smile at her. Dora only recently finished Hogwarts herself, and she is currently applying to become an auror.
"Well I couldn't miss saying goodbye to you!" She exclaims, her eyebrows changing colour from pink, to blue, to green. I laugh as I sit down at the table, I've always been secretly jealous of Dora's powers, and I always wish I had inherited them as well. Actually, I didn't really inherit much from my parents at all. I have long, curly auburn hair, which I like to elf braid, and my eyes are the dark green colour of grass in the middle of winter.
Mum sets the table with my favourite meal of macaroni cheese, and I serve myself an extra large portion. As excited as I am for Hogwarts, I will definitely miss my mum's homemade cooking!
"So Eadlyn, what house are you hoping for?" Dora asks, a glint in her eye. I open my mouth to reply, but the truth is, I don't really know what hose I am hoping for. Gryffindor is an obvious choice, because it has a brilliant reputation and has turned out many great wizards, but to be honest I wouldn't consider bravery one of my strongest traits. My whole family is from Hufflepuff, and I'm sure they're all secretly rooting for me to be placed there. To be honest though, I'm pretty sure I will end up in Ravenclaw or Slytherin. I have always been a huge bookworm and love learning, however what really encourages me to do well in school is the drive to be the best, to be noticed, to make a difference. I like recognition you could say.
"Um, I haven't really thought about it much to be honest," I lie, and my mum and dad exchange a look, they both know that I'm not telling the truth - every child dreams about their future Hogwarts house!
"Eady honey, you know that we don't mind what house you get put in, as long as you're happy." My dad leans forward, his smile small but genuine. I smile back, though it isn't my families opinions that worry me, for I know that they will love me no matter what. It's the opinions of everybody else, and what path my house will lead me down. Your Hogwarts house means a lot in adult life, and due to the scarcity of magical people, most marry girls or guys within their Hogwarts year and house. My Hogwarts house could define my entire house!
"How do the houses get chosen anyway?" I ask Dora nervously, what if you have to do some kind of test?
"Well that you will just have to find out!"

Buh duh duh dum, bah bah duh dum...
I groan as my alarm rings, my once favourite muggle song tainted with the memory of having to get up early. I reach to turn it off, when all of a sudden, it hits me what day it is. Today is the day that I start Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! I leap out of bed (a thing that I can assure you I don't do very often) and run downstairs, where the smell of frying bacon wafts in the air. Dad is busy at the grill, and mum is setting the table. Dora isn't up yet, which doesn't really surprise me, she does love her sleep-ins!
"How are you feeling?" Dad asks, sipping a cup of coffee while mum goes upstairs to wake up Dora.
"Fantastic!" I cry, sitting down at the table to me last family meal.
Andromeda's (Eadlyn's Mum) POV:
I'm walking through the hallway when I see that Eadlyn's door is slightly ajar, I grab the knob and go to pull it shut, when I notice something strange on the wall inside. Checking behind me, I quickly slip inside, pulling the door closed behind me. Slowly I approach the opposite wall, looking in horror at the giant hole in it, about the size of my head. Worse than that, a strange red smoke is leaking out of it, and the wall looks almost burnt around it. I stick my hand through the hole, and it almost reaches the other side of the wall. Looking down, I notice a poster fallen on the floor below it, and realise that it was a failed attempt to hide the hole. How did Eadlyn think that I would never find it? Maybe she was just hoping I would find it once she had already left for school, either way, I can feel my heart sinking. I was hoping that the other incidences had been coincidences, but this confirms my fear, the threat we faced since Eadlyn came into our lives, that something isn't quite right with her. However I can't go to Eady about it without telling her the truth, which I am under strict orders not to do. This means that there is only one thing I can do, I pick up the poster and re-stick it to the wall, this time with a quick charm. I'm just turning to leave when I hear the door creak open, a pale face looking at me in the doorway, a look of fleeting panic in it's emerald eyes.
"Oh, Eady, I'm just..." I start, but before I can finish Eady interrupts.
"I know you saw it mum, don't lie," she whispers, stepping in and closing the door behind her, the look in her green eyes more vulnerable than I usually see.
"How did it happen?" I question, not really wanting an answer, but needing one all the same. I can see something flick across her face, before she tentatively replies.
"I was angry, upset about something, I slammed the wall, not very hard, and something exploded, I swear it wasn't on purpose mum," she starts, speeding up around the end. I simply look into her eyes, her beautiful green eyes, and sign. As I take a step closer, she flinches, until I sit down on her bed, opening my arms and pulling her onto my chest, holding her close, my beautiful, intelligent daughter. I can hear her sobbing into my chest, and I stroke her head slowly, shushing and comforting her.
"It's ok darling, it's all going to be ok." That's a complete lie, things aren't going to be ok, they are only going to get worse - and there is absolutely nothing that I can do to stop it.
