(NOVA'S POV)

"Mom I hate this place already. Why can't we go home." I whined.
"Nova we just got here." said my mother. While she folded her clothes.
"I know but-" I was saying until I got cut off.
"Why don't you go play somewhere or something. Try making friends."
"Ugh, fine I mumbled before heading outside. I put on my flats and left.

I walked down the sidewalk by the diner and, saw two older guys smoking in the alley.
One had a really bad haircut and his hair was blonde. The other one I saw had dark brown hair almost black I think.
I just decided to keep walking so I don't seem like a creep. I walked for like 30 more seconds until I see the same guys smoking in the alley, jogging to catch up with me. I just walked faster not know what they where gonna do.

"Hey! You!" The blonde one called out. "Whats your name?"
I finally stopped. I turned around and faced him.
"It's none of your buisness."
"Wow, wow a fiesty one." said the brown haired one while winking.
I cringed.
"Leave me alone please." I said before walking away.
The one with the ugly haircut grabbed my wrist and pulled me close to his chest.
"Hey don't walk away from me." he says through clenched teeth.
"Who are you my father" i said while struggling to get free. I spit in his face and he let's go of me to wipe the spit off his face.
I took my chance and ran for it.
"You little bitch!" he said while chasing me.
"Go away!" i yelled at him while running away. Since I'm not the most athlete person. He catches me in no time.

He tackles me and holds my arms down. I attempt to get free but fail. I notice his friend left him.
He takes something out of his pocket. Its a switch blade.

"now do I have to teach you to be nice or will you apologize and do something for me." he looks at me pointing the knife at me.
"Uh.." just then I see two boys walking across the street. "HELP ME! HEY HELP!" My screams get muffled by the guys hand. I start kicking again hoping the boys would help me.

"Ace man, leave her alone." I see them run over to us.
Ace breaths in and laughs.
"Alright, alright fine I was just having some fun." he gets up and puts his blade back in his pocket and puts his hands in the air smiling.

I quickly stand up and dust my self off. Ace winks at me before leaving.
"Oh thank you guys so much. He just wouldn't leave me alone." I say while walking to them.
"oh that was nothing." says the boy with the glasses.
"Well see ya later." says the other boy. They start to walk away.
"Wait! Is there anyway I can repay you guys for helping me?" I asked. Catching up to them.
"Umm you-"
"you can hang out with us." replied the boy in the glasses.
"That's it?" he nods and they continue walking.
I follow them cause I'm supposed to hang out with them.

"This is our tree house." says the boy with the shaven head. I just nod.
They climb up the ladder and open it up. I go last cause I'm wearing a dress. I sit down on crate I find after they sit down themselves and start a game of cards. I watch them for a bit a decide to start a conversation.
"what game are you guys playing?"
"31." says the boy in the white shirt.
"Cool" I say.

A couple minutes later. The boy in the white shirt pulls out a box of cigs. My eyes widen. I can't believe they smoke. I mean there just kids. They can get cancer and get really ugly from smoking.
"Do you want one?" the boy with the white shirt offers. Me holds one out to me.
"Um sure." I say.

I can't believe I'm doing this. I take the cancer stick from his hand while the other boy throws me a lighter. I had no idea what to do but I always see people on the teli light cigs so I light it up.
I pass the lighter back and try to take a puff. I start coughing like crazy.
"Aw gross." I say fanning the smoke away from my face. The boys start laughing and the one with short-short hair said: "here I'll take it." while taking it from me.

Someone suddenly knocked on the door. They moved the little table they had and opened up the door.
"Hey Gordie!" they said.
"Hi Chris, hey Teddy." Gordie said back.

Yes! I finally know there names. I was so confused and it felt wierd being with people and not knowing there names.

Gordie looked at me for a second. I smiled slightly.
"Guys who is she?" he whispered to them. I looked down and fiddled with me dress so it didn't seem like I was eavesdropping.

"Hey, what's your name?" Teddy asked me.
"Oh, my names Nova." I replied.
They look at me with confused looks.
"Like one of those things in space?" asks Chris
"Yeah its a star that suddenly gets really bright because of an explosion that ejects most of its mass." I tell him.

Everyone except Gordie looks at me with another confused look.
Jesus, do these boys know anything? I think to myself.

Gordie rolls his eyes.
"It's basically an exploding star that gets really bright." he says.
"Ohh okay." say Chris and Teddy.

They play for a bit while Gordie reads then I realized something. I'm the only girl with a bunch of guys. Alone. My mother told me about this.
