The freezing breeze hit my face as I stood in the old train station, I shifted uncomfortably as my teeth chattered; I lifted my hood up, hoping to warm up. In the distance, I could hear the train coming, the loud horn blaring in the air; making its approaching presence known. Bending over, I picked up my bag, slipping in over my shoulders, my icy fingers tighten over my phone as I read the text.
"Why?"- William
I sighed, glancing up the train came to a halt; I stepped onto the small carriage and immediately sat on the ancient seats. Whilst I looked around wearily, I reached for my headphones, gently untangling them and plugging them in my phone while I scrolled through my playlist. Letting the music flow through my ears, leaning my head against the window of the carriage, my body moving against the rough movements of the carriage. Opening the text once again, I found the courage to reply to him, my fingers started to type up a reply, I let out a sigh as I pressed the reply icon.
"Because, I need to be away from him, I'm so sorry Will"-Ellie
The city lights were visible through the window, I allowed myself to smile at my newfound freedom, my heart racing in both nervousness and excitement of the days, months and even years ahead. My eyes slowly began to shut, I welcomed the darkness allowing myself to be surrounded in it for a moment.
After multiple stops, the train came to a halt once again, this time it was my time to get off; I stepped off the train and looked around the busy train station. Here I am.
Miami
"Ellie? Ellie!"
A familiar voice called my name, I turned around my eyes meeting a pair of familiar brown eyes.
"Eleanor! Oh my god, I've missed you so much" I exclaimed, immediately opening my arms, and she fell into my arms. We stayed in each other's arms for a minute, I let go, smiling widely at her, tears blurring my vision.
"It's been too long, you have no idea how happy I am" Eleanor cried, wiping away her tears. She wrapped her arm around my shoulders, we began to walk out of the busy station, we talked about everything and nothing, catching up on the years we missed.
"Are you still with Ezra?" I ask curiously, watching her eyes soften at me mentioning him; the question was answered without words.
"Yes, we are still together" she sighed, almost dreamily.
Eleanor and Ezra are what many label as "couple goals", they were best friends as children and were an official couple at the tender age of thirteen. Seven years into their relationship and you could see that the sparks never dimmed, in fact they grew stronger.
"What about you?" she smirked as she nudged me gently.
Rolling my eyes, "I'm still on the hunt" I muttered. Eleanor giggled.
"I can set you up with someone" she offered, raising an eyebrow.
"Thanks, but you know I don't like that, I prefer it to happen naturally" I stated, scoffing at her suggestion.
"Its 2018! Nothing happens naturally anymore!" she exclaimed, her eyes pleading me.
"No way! I'll find someone myself" I insisted, she sighed.
"Fine" she muttered "Oh, there's my car" she continued. As we approached the car, I opened the door of her car, sliding into the small vehicle, my jeans sliding against the black leather seat.
"Let's begin my new adventure!" I scream, excitement laced my voice, Eleanor squealed, feeling just as thrilled as I was; we immediately drove off. I look outside the window, grinning and sighing in content as I gripped tightly on my phone.
It truly is a new beginning.
Authors Note
Hi! This is the first chapter to my book, it's very short as the idea for the book came in the middle of the night (as do most good ideas). However, the chapter will be MUCH longer than this one and written better. I hope you do continue to read as I do have quite a bit planned for this book :)
