Sunlight poured through the window, casting a bright shadow over Honey's Bed. There she laid, her face set peaceful as she dreamt of anything and everything. The smell of pancakes filled the air, the sweet scent of maple syrup hinted towards Honey. With a large stretch she rose from her slumber. Rising from her bed she pulled back her curtains letting the warm spring day fill her room. A knock at her door startled her.
"Honey," Her mother voice sang from behind the closed door, "It's time for breakfast. Get up and join me and your father." Her voice got distance as she briskly walked back down the stairs.
She hurriedly pulled on her dress and socks, quietly slipping out her door. The hallway was bright, flowers decorated the walls and pictures of her family hung proud through out it. Her home wasn't necessarily that large, just big enough for her parents, her, and their pet cat. The size never bothered her, she had everything she could need here.
The kitchen soon came into sight, she smell of pancakes grew closer and her mouth watered. Sitting on the plate were stacks of buttermilk pancakes lathered in maple syrup and butter. Her eyes widened and she quickly sat down, waiting for her mother to serve her a plate. A conversation soon broke the silence of the room.
"I suspect that your mother needs help with her garden." Her father's husky voice rang through her ears. The question was for her mother, knowing that my grandma always asked for our help with her garden.
"She called this morning," she managed to mumble through her mouth full of fluffy pancakes. She quietly swallowed, taking a sip of her coffee, "she asked if Honey would be interested in going over to help her." Her mother beamed at her, a large friendly smile sitting on her cheeks. Honey nodded happily at this request. She always loved working with her grandmother. The garden was always filled with flowers of all colors and shapes.
"Well, if she'd like to go then she can." Her father encouraged her. He was always cautious about her going out of town, but now that she was an adult he has lifted the protection just enough for her to do as she pleased.
"I'll go," Honey nearly shouted out in happiness, her parents chuckled at her excitement. They were always happy with her, "Do you need anything while i'm out?" She often picked up groceries and special goods while out of town so she felt the need to ask.
"All is fine here, darling." Her mother patted her head softly, leaving a kiss on her temple. She grabbed the empty cutlery from the table over to the sink.
After a small chat with her parents, Honey skipped her way to her room to get ready for her trip. She grabbed her white coat swinging it over her shoulder, placing her brown hat on her head, and slipped her brown boots on. A basket filled with seeds, snacks, and drinks sat in the corner of her room. She grabbed it and headed back down to her parents. She reassured her parents that she'd be okay on her own. Her mother hugged her and told her to be safe while her father handed her some pocket money and told her to call if anything happened. She waved them off as she jumped on their locale bus.
The bus ride was going to a few hours long. There was never a lot of people on the bus so she never had anyone to talk to. Honey had her favorite book with her though. As the bus hummed along the road, she curled into herself and read the hours away.
