"I can't believe I've never actually been in here before" Ross says, his eyes scanningt the walls as you step into your aunts house.
"Well maybe you should come over sometime," You begin, turning to look at him. "I get kinda lonely" You state, mumbling to yourself, as you chuck your keys on the table.
"Are you always here by yourself?" Ross asks, acknowledging your comment.
"Yup." You nod your head slowly. "Just me, myself and I" You sing with a sigh, as you walk up the stairs and into your bedroom.
"It's pretty cool here." Ross says, his eyes wandering your bedroom and resting upon the TV. "How about we have a movie night tonight? Here. Just you and me" Ross asks, wrapping his arms around your waist from behind, stopping you from rummaging through the junk on your desk.
"I'd like that" You reply, turning your head around to meet his eyes with yours. You wrap your arms around his neck and, before he can lean in, give him a quick peck.
"Now come on, they'll be waiting" You say, putting your adult-like act on.
"Well then they'll just have to wait" Ross says childishly, pulling you in again.
"Rosssss" You giggle as he rests your head on his chest. "Come on"
"Fineeee" He sulks, kissing you forcefully on the forehead and releasing you. You turn and stick out your tongue at him as he moves away from the desk.
"Where did I put ittt" You ask yourself, sorting through sheets of paper and photos on your desk.
A polaroid flies off the desk and Ross flings himself across the floor to catch it, landing on the floor with a 'thump', making you chuckle.
"Hey, this was at Walk The Moon" He says, standing up, his eyes scanning the photo attentively. The photo was of the two of you standing with his arm around your waist in the crowd at Walk The Moon, less than an hour before you'd just met.
"And this," He says, picking up another polaroid, "Was at the diner afterwards, when we made Ell drink that super gross drink cause he used the code word on tour" He says with a chuckle, deep in reminiscent thought.
Your mouth curves into a smile at the sight of Ellington making a grossed out face, sitting next to Rocky, Riker and Rydel who were all in fits of laughter. "Yeah. Those were some good times"
Ross smiles back for a moment, and then his face turns slightly pale. "I'm gonna miss them" He says, staring into your eyes. Then his arms are around you, engulfing you in a hug. You look up at him and instantly give in to the sadness in his eyes, leaning into kiss him. Just when you can almost feel his lips against yours, his phone vibrates in his pocket and against your leg, interrupting the both of you. He closes his eyes for a second and sighs.
"Sorry" He says, pulling it out of his pocket and putting it to his ear. "What is it Rocky?" He spits with a scowl.
"Will you guys quit doing each other and hurry up?" You hear Rocky ask with only half jokiness and half seriousness in his voice.
You hear gasps in the background and almost let out a chuckle yourself when Ross' eyes widen in anger.
"Rocky what the hell!" Ross yells down the phone.
"I'm sorry Maja, they got it out of me!" Rydel exclaims into the phone.
"It was obvious anyway" You hear Ryland say in the background.
"Whatever, we'll be out when we damn please" Ross says and hangs up the phone with a violent attempt at a tap. He looks up at you and slowly his frown softens, and he grins when he sees you trying to hold back a chuckle.
"So it's not much of a secret anymore, huh" He says, trying to be nonchalant over his frustration.
"I guess not" You say with a smile, as your eyes once again scan the desk. They stop at the familiar sight of the hard-drive. "Bingo!" You exclaim, reaching across the desk to grab it. "Just one sec"
You open the lid of your laptop and plug in your hard-drive and by the time you're dragging files into an e-mail to Mark, you realize the silence in the room.
"Are you okay? You haven't said a word for like, five minutes" You ask Ross, spinning around on the chair to face him. He's laying on your bed, looking up at the ceiling.
"I just... I don't know what I'm gonna do when you're gone" He says after a few moments, his eyes not moving from the ceiling.
Your heart falls into your stomach once again at the thought of it. "Ross, I thought we said we weren't gonna talk about me leaving-"
"I know, and I know you don't wanna think about it but... you've just gotta face it Maja" Ross says, getting up and walking towards you. "Before we know it, you'll be gone and it might be months until we see each other again" Ross says hastily, pacing the floor restlessly.
Your head drops and you find yourself nervously playing with your hands and shuffling your feet against the chairlegs like you always do in difficult situations.
"Listen, I don't wanna upset you. I just want you to be prepared for reality, okay?" Ross explains softly, kneeling down to sit in front of you. "I haven't lost many people in my life but I know how difficult it's gonna be for us. We'll probably get picked up for another season of A&A or for Teen Beach Movie 2, and we might even do a world tour after the promo tour in the fall. It's gonna be pretty hectic."
You let out a deep breath. You fought his words in his head. Why does he say these things, why does he even think about seeing me again? You think to yourself.
"But I promise to do whatever it takes to see you again, okay? Even if it means cancelling gigs or-."
"No Ross. You can't do that to your fans." You say, sharply. Why was he even considering that? Why was he panicking like this?
Ross looks surprised and almost offended. "Well if it's the only way-"
"Then that's just life, Ross" You say plainly, once again pushing him out of your head even more, not letting yourself fall for him.
"I can't believe you're being so pessimistic about this. I'm willing to let down my fans for you?" Ross' volume rises and he's now on his feet.
"Do you really think I'd want you to do that? That I'd ask that of you?" You ask, your volume rising too as you stand to his level, confusion and frustration running through you. "Ross, they're all you ever wanted. They're everything to you, remember?"
"You're everything to me!" Ross exclaims, taking a step towards you and looking straight into your eyes.
You stare back at him, both of you breathing heavily, air escaping your lungs. You shake your head. refusing to believe him. He was so oblivious.
"No, Ross. I'm not. I'm just some British girl that you happened to get along with pretty well, someone you hung out with over the summer and thought you had feelings for. That's all I am. You're just... your head isn't in the right place right now. You're gonna get back to shooting and doing press and realize that this wasn't 'love' or anything, it was never real" You struggle to verbalize, tears pricking at the back of your eyes at the reality of what you were saying. What you 'had' would be gone in an instant. If you ever had anything.
"You really think that I'd do that? You really think once the summer's over I'm going to go back to being in the spotlight and turn into a right asshole, and drop this, this fake game I'm playing? Just like that?"
"Ross, that's not what I meant, you just don't know wh-" You say, defensively.
"Save it. And fyi, this was real, to me. Maybe not so much to you" Ross spits, turning to the door.
"Ross, just give me a min-" You panic, speaking hastily.
"Sorry I gotta go find my 'real' friends. Like you said, they'll be waiting"
