I VOLENTEER!!!

Its my second year at the reaping and I am shaking uncontrollably. Daisy,my best friend clings to my arm and weeps into my shoulder but I tell her to calm down and comfort her. I want to cry too but I must be brave. Our district escort marches onto stage. His hair is bright pink and curly, he wears an orange suit with green shoes. This makes me and Daisy giggle. Everyone lifts their heads to see the Capitol monstrosity that is Jet. He squels into the microphone as I cover my ears . ' WELCOME TO THE 77th ANNUAL HUNGER GAMES! AS USUAL LADIES FIRST!' He shuffles over to the reaping bowl that gives a beautiful but deadly glow as the sun hits it. Jet pulls out a name card that holds our fate. ' DAISY SHADOWS!'  Daisy wails and it breaks my heart. I try to calm her down but it is no use. She stammers a teary goodbye. Her hand slides out of mine as she makes her way through the crowd. I stand, alone, frightened and stunned. I think of the horrors she will face. Just as she steps onto the stage I scream ' I VOLENTEER, I VOLENTEER AS TRIBUTE!!!' I am relieved but petrified. I rush towards the stage and grab Daisy and whisper to her, ' I could never see you hurt. I am sorry'. She hugs me tightley and nods. She whispes a final goodbye as the peace keepers drag her away. I watch as she is pushed back into the crowd and her mother takes her hand and pulls her away. I search through the crowd for my mam and I find her crying into my fathers chest with Hazel and Rye holding her hands. They dont understand. Jet breaks my vision as he guides me to the centre of the stage. ' Well that was. ..different'. He clasps his hands together in joy and stammers towards the boys bowl. I breathe heavily trying to calm down. After what seems like forever Jet squeaks into the mike ' SAM DONALDSON' I recognise the name but I dont spend a lot of time to remember where from,. He is my crush. It just got worse. Only one of 24 of us leaves that arena which means that one or both off us wont...............
