                Prologue:

"How could you do this to us Margarette?" My father said in a low, calm, angry voice. We stand in the kitchen, mom distracting herself with the cutting of carrots. My dads hands clasp the edge of the counter, his knuckles turning white. She replies with a nervous, shaky voice,
"I'm doing this for her own good. You'll see. She'll be ready for a normal life. She won't be so strange and difficult to deal with."
"She doesn't need help Margarette, she needs time."
   "Have you met your daughter?"
"Have you no mercy?" My mom looked at him then, with tears in her eyes. He looked away from her, to me. He grabs my book bag, empties it, and starts putting blanket, food, and toilet paper capsules in it. Enough to last a long while. He's packing for the road, to leave. My mother realises this the same time as I.
   "John, you can't!"
   "I must."
"Why?! Please stay. This will do her good. We can be a family, and when she gets better, everything will be how it should be."
"It was Margarette. It was. I'm sorry." He takes my hand and walks me to the door. Before we leave, he turns to her, and says,
"I forgive you, and I still love you. But I do not think it to be wise to come back for you."
"No! Johnathan wait! Please! Come back!" We hear her attempts to backon us back. We even hear her running steps across the wooden floor, even the thump when she falls to her knees, and hear her echoing sobs. My dad does not slow his pace, even for a moment. The only show of remorse is in his face. This is hard for him, he loved that woman, and at one time I loved her too. Made me want to cry, but if he was strong enough, so was I. I didn't want to make this harder for him by crying, so I kept to myself as we jog into the woods down the dirt trail.
